Part of the deal to sell the packaged foods business to St. Louis-based Post Holdings Inc. (POST) is that Bob Evans’ operations and employees will remain in Central Ohio, a spokeswoman said. When the deal announced today closes early next year, none of the local employees will work for a company based in Ohio. The homegrown breakfast chain known for its sausage, founded in Rio Grande near the Ohio River in 1948, was sold off to San Francisco-based Golden Gate Capital in May by its publicly traded parent, Bob Evans Farms Inc., and taken private as Bob Evans Restaurants.
