Apple is considering a range of multibillion-dollar options to help keep Toshiba’s flash memory business intact , Bloomberg reports. Toshiba is eager to sell off part of its flash memory chip business to help keep the company afloat as it deals with billions of dollars of other losses. Cupertino-based Apple (AAPL) would reportedly take a stake of more than 20 percent in Toshiba’s chip operations, but leave enough equity on the table that Toshiba would retain control of the business.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology will create a new center dedicated to autism research, thanks to a $20 million alumnus donation. The donation, gifted to the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT, comes courtesy of disability advocate K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan, an MIT alumnus and CEO of California-based chipmaker Broadcom (AVGO). The Tan-Yang Center for Autism Research will focus on genetics, neural circuits, novel autism models and the translation of basic research into clinical tests.
