BRY >>> Here's some rough back-of-the-envelope calculations. IKAV is buying Aera Energy for $4 billion. Aera has crude oil production of 95,000 barrels a day. BRY has crude oil production of 24,000 barrels a day (26,200 MBOE if nat gas and NGLs are included). On an apples-to-apples basis, that would make BRY worth $1-$1.1 billion. However, the enterprise value is currently $1.07 billion which means that the stock could be fully valued @ $9-$10 and a potential acquirer is unlikely to pay a significant premium to buy the company. Any thoughts?

Do they pay out the dividend today?

Clearly the price of Brent dropped a lot in Sept...but that said - the average price of Brent for the whole qtr was $97.40. Not too bad of a price.

BRY >>> Here's something to consider. Because Berry is a small player in the "oil patch" with a relatively massive amount of debt, the company must hedge their production. The Q2 results show that Berry's average realized crude oil price was $23+ below the California average unhedged price for the quarter. Bottom line, this was/is a significant impact on cash flow and earnings which, in turn, will continue to be a drag on the stock. That said, it is what it is. Just sayin'. GLTA

time to load back up and invest that dividend money. Can't say it won't go down further... but this is a nice gift...ya Brent is taking it in the shorts - it's back below a $100/barrel.

Now that IKAV has acquired Aera from ExxonMobil and Shell, it would be nice if they did a "tuck in" buyout of BRY. The assets are very close to Aera and would seem to be of strategic value to IKAV. However, I won't be holding my breath waiting. LOL

Short interest update.... nice... small increase (10%) in the latest short-interest, but yet the share price has gone up.
I added the stock closing price as of the reporting date to the schedule.
    Does this make any sense?
Nice to see that the price continues to increase, while at the same time...the short interest is increasing.
I couldn't imagine shorting BRY at anything under $12, yet alone $10.

BRY >>> Yes, the stock is ex-dividend on Friday. Even though the dividend is huge @ 62 cents, keep in mind that the closing stock price today is adjusted down by that 62 cents. Therefore, the stock has to rebound fairly quickly or it's really just a wash for shareholders. Just explaining for those who may not understand how dividends impact the SP.

On September 13, 2022, a Federal Judge in the Northern District of Texas determined that plaintiffs adequately pled false statements and omissions by Berry and its officers and directors in a securities fraud matter.

BRY >>> LINN showed that this company can be bought yet it's now languishing again, even with decent cash flows and monster dividends coming soon. Somebody should move in and buy it again in double digits as it's really too small to flourish as a stand-alone company in this tough California regulatory climate. IMO Any thoughts?

Short interest update.... nice... small increase in the latest short-interest, but yet the share price has gone up (I added closing share price on the short-interest reporting day). At this price - I wonder if the shorts are upping the ante on their bets... or just taking a wait and see attitude - clearly the nice dividend and potential future dividends could prove to be good headwinds for their positions. Dare I say that I'm happy with $90 Brent? Also BRY has some potential tail winds with CC and solar...and C&J Well Services. Is the new process that they are developing for Thermal Diatomite worthy of mention?
