    Donald Trump nominates Wall Street lawyer to lead SEC

    President-elect Donald Trump has picked Wall Street lawyer James Clayton to be head the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Clayton's name emerged as one of the top candidates — a nomination that many Wall Street investors and Fortune 500 executives have been anticipating on the heels of Trump's meeting the legal advisor back in December. Clayton, known for advising Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. for its record $21.8 billion initial public offering and helping to orchestrate the 2008 sale of Bear Stearns to JPMorgan Chase & Co., is a partner at New York-based law firm Sullivan & Cromwell.
