Disclosure, I am a holder of LO received BTI stock when it was $60. I am not a seller since I believe the dividend is safe yet little or no stock appreciation. So take the dividend as cash and abort DRIP. Still a great strategy.
This is a repost of one I made a year or two ago with some modifications:
Ok, here’s the deal. In 2002 I bought 100 shares of RAI for a little over $4,000. As most of you know, it got sold to BTI. I received the BTI shares and the cash. I used the cash to buy MO. I’ve always reinvested the dividends. Even though both stocks have dropped (I’m down a lot since the sale), on that initial investment my yearly dividends are $6,000. Not bad for a $4,000 investment. Just buy and hold forever. I say this with good will to all. Please no judgements.
I hold the dividend powered troika of pm, mo and bti. Been with mo since 1998.
Hold for dividend (safe) with very little stock appreciation in the near future. Holder from LO spinoff.
why did insider sell off half his shares today???? any bodys 2cents?
insiders sells off half his share4s today i wonder why?
Is this a valid case for share price appreciation over the next two to five years: bonds yielding so low, baby boomer retirement so high, and they start looking for yield and bid up stocks that have them ?
-Just a thought
I made a video about $BTI, $MO, $VGR and $UVV Stocks.
Check it on YouTube:
BTI, MO, VGR and UVV Stocks Analysis📈, is British American Tobacco a BUY? Tobacco Industry review.
good div, but you'll likely lose in capital losses as many other have already. Tobacco and Oil are dinasaurs... sell before coming earnings... i cannot see them being good.
Ex Dividend coming soon. Load up!
They got tom of debt
why would you stop DRIP if you bought this stock at $50 or $60 and have held all the way down?
Trading x dividend today.
Lexaria Bioscience (OTCQX:LXRP) has entered into a research and development agreement with British American Tobacco (NYSE:BTI) to investigate the use of Lexaria's technology in nicotine products.

Back up the truck at $34.00. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!
For those who are ultra bullish let me remind those so called long term holders (honest shareholders) that as recent as Sept. 2016, BTI was trading at $60. To my point we have lost a ton!
Expecting 8% dividend hit today but no longer DRIP.
Neutral on stock. bullish on dividend.
Perfect stock for a good dividend portfolio.
Big hammer is forming today on the chart, time to load and get to the train!
