I bought BTI in November 2018 thinking that it bottomed. Three painful years later and I think this stock is finally going where it belongs. $60 target.

You know it's a good stock when you're sad that it's going up. I was enjoying that low-cost DRIP.

British American Tobacco's Move Into Cannabis Market Isn't Fully Appreciated -- Market Talk
    Mentioned: BTI

1603 GMT - Sentiment for British American Tobacco's reduced-risk products--as opposed to its traditional cigarettes--will turn more positive over the next year, but the company's recent move into the cannabis market is currently getting no credit, Jefferies says. The cannabis market, specifically in the U.S., should boost performance as legislative decisions are expected to increase BAT's exposure in the North American cannabis growth, the brokerage says. BAT plans to disclose accounts for this segment at year-end which the market should welcome, Jefferies says, but adds that an update on menthol products in April remains a near-term risk. Shares trade 3.4% higher at 3,135.50 pence.

So I definitely get we are seeing a rotation from Tech and Growth to earnings and dividends, but it seems a bit strange to see 10% growth in less than a month. Any other news driving? - trying to understand.

Barclays lifted its price target on British American Tobacco on Monday to 3,400p from 3,300p, arguing that the shares are at an inflection point.
The bank, which maintained its 'overweight' rating, said BAT has been a frustrating stock to own over the last three years, with a total return of around 41% versus 50% for the MSCI World Staples Index. However, Barclays reckons this is about to change due to two catalysts.

"First, BAT will start repurchasing shares soon - we think BAT could repurchase circa £10bn in shares by FY25 (c15% of market cap) and still see net debt/EBITDA decline from c3x in FY21 to c2x by FY25.

"Second, BAT will now start breaking out NGP (next generation product) contribution losses; we think these are c$1bn today."

Barclays noted that BAT has guided for NGP to break even by FY25.

"As NGP losses reduce and share repurchases step up, BAT's earnings per share growth should accelerate from 6% in FY20/21 to 9% in FY22/23E, and 10%+ beyond FY24E," it said.

Barclays said that at 8% dividend yield and 7.5x 2022E price-to-earnings, the stock is cheap.

It just up ~ 10% in a year… I don’t think that there would be massive profit taking especially at the beginning of the year… I guess we would not see any big moves till results are announced…..

To the people that hope for bti take over. We better hope they pay $4 a share at least, my guess is $1.35. Then how many shares of bti in exchange lol. Hooped. Bti will have to go to $80 if we got 1 for 1 to give us $2.70 C. I averaged down from $4.92.
