  • To lose $15mm to a patent troll like Omega is disgraceful (the last ruling came out last night, looks like CAMP is properly reserved). Not sure if this was bad lawyering or a hostile federal judge; but there is no way CAMP should have allowed it to get this far. I know there is much need for patent reform, and the Supreme Court's latest anti-forum shopping ruling should help. But I am not sure how CAMP gets this judgment reversed on appeal. Just glad they got the LOJN windfall to cover it...

  • Hey Juddy, Hiram, triptens anyother old timers still around?
I just received annual report this afternoon. As i see, nearly $60 million increase in selling and A&G jumped out to me with about same increase in sales over previous year. Does that mean, the increase in sales was due to about same amount for sales and A&G?
of course the notes to the financial statements were referred to accompanying consolidated financial statements.
Explanation, all significant transactions and accounts have been eliminated in consolidation.
Wow, I would think an explanation is warranted.
    Anyone else feel the same?

  • Don't hate me, but.....
There's a fair possibility this thing could drift back down to the mid-to-high $15 range before it goes back up. (JMHO)
  • I sold today.
    Good luck all.
  • Not an awful report, not great either. On the plus side, revenues and EPS this Q were better than expected, gross margins are excellent, results should improve as the year goes along and they basically received a $46mm windfall from an old LJON arbitration. Plus there is at least some sort of organic growth they are starting to see, albeit in the modest 6% range. Plus reading the between the lines, they seem absolutely convinced they are going to win that patent lawsuit,a dn legal expenses have started to moderate. On the downside, Q2 is a bit light -- they are around $1mm short on revenues and 1-2 cents shorts on EPS, even factoring in the 10% extra R&D spend. Growth prospects still seem somewhat so-so, and I think investors are looking for a bit more "pop" and excitement from the company that has a "waiting for Godot" quality. I mean, these guys just put you to sleep on the conference calls -- steady, solid engineers and pocket-protector managers -- but you don't get the sense that they are just gonna blow out the numbers in any given quarter. Just not gonna happen. So we are at $88.5mm for Q2 and 26 cents (would have been 28 cents but for the one-time spend). The real concern for me is that we are just not where we need to be -- things just take too long over there, and the company's slowness is reflect in the voice timber of Mike and Rick (who needs Ambien when I can just listen to a replay of a CalAmp conference call?). Bottom line is I just can't tell where any of this is headed -- are we going to $100mm in revenues by the end of the year, with EPS in the 35-40 cent range? Or is going to be $89, 90.2 and 91.5 with EPS at 28, 29 and 30? In light of the uncertainties, the stock will basically go nowhere -- we will likely stay stuck in the $18-19 range until there is a catalyst. But Mike and Rick, can you please surprise us over the next six months? And I mean REALLY surprise us?

  • If you would have taken an objective view at earning you would have held. This company is in the mist of revamping their growth strategy. This is a stock you invest for the long haul.
  • Excellent! More cash and profit rolls in for CAMP. Analysts were expecting $0.27 per share for the latest quarter. CAMP beat estimates by posting $0.29 per share. Non-GAAP adjusted basis net income for the fiscal 2018 first quarter was $10.4 million, or $0.29 per diluted share. Non-GAAP income was $11 million for the quarter and Cash Flow from Operations was $11 million per quarter. Guidance for next quarter is also for more profits! CAMP will likely be over $25 per share later this year.
  • Wow
