(CHSCP), the nation's leading agribusiness cooperative, today announced that Tim Skidmore, executive vice president and chief financial officer, is retiring effective December 31, 2019. Skidmore will continue as the company's chief financial officer through the filing of the company's Form 10-K for its fiscal year 2019.

China on Wednesday made its first major purchases of U.S. soybeans since President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping struck a trade war truce earlier this month, providing some relief to U.S. farmers who have struggled to find buyers for their record-large harvest. Trump told Reuters in an interview on Tuesday the Chinese were already buying a "tremendous amount" of U.S. soybeans and would also soon cut tariffs on U.S. autos. Global agribusiness CHS Inc. said it recently fired an employee for "intentional misconduct" that made the company appear more profitable than it was for years. The Star Tribune reported Friday the company told investors the news this week in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company said the employee, whom it did not identify, misvalued rail freight contracts and that led to CHS overstating its pretax profit by as much as $190 million during the past four fiscal years.
