Discover Financial Services (DFS) today announced that John T. Greene, a financial executive in the banking, insurance and pharmaceutical industries, has been named executive vice president, chief financial officer and a member of the company’s executive committee effective Sept. 18. "John’s proven financial management success and record of operational excellence make him a key addition to Discover’s executive leadership team,” said Roger Hochschild, Discover’s CEO and president.

Merchant clients of Arkéa group's distribution networks will be able to accept cards from Discover, Diners Club International® as well as cards from their numerous alliance partners. Discover Global Network will grow acceptance in France. Discover Global Network, the payments brand of Discover, and Arkéa have signed an acquiring agreement that will allow merchant clients of Arkéa2 group's distribution networks to accept Discover, Diners Club International and alliance partner cards from physical POS terminals, via mobile terminals, and online from payments webpages.
For the fifth time in six years, Discover ranked highest for credit card customer satisfaction among U.S. credit card companies by J.D. Power. Discover received a total of 842 points out of a possible 1,000, according to the J.D. Discover Financial Services (DFS) announced today that its capital plan for the four quarters ending June 30, 2020 contemplates share repurchases of up to $1.63 billion during the four quarters ending June 30, 2020 and an increase in the company’s quarterly dividend from $0.40 to $0.44 per share of common stock. The Board of Directors is scheduled to approve a new share repurchase program and will consider the dividend increase at its July meeting. The company’s capital plan contemplates actions that maintain capital ratios to meet regulatory and legal requirements and support the company’s funding and other capital markets activities.

Discover announced today the elimination of deposit account fees, promising to help customers keep more of what they earn and save. Customers with a checking, savings, money market or CD account from Discover Bank now can rest easy knowing their money will stay where they put it without fees for an occasional oversight or pressing need. In addition to offering deposit accounts with no fees for monthly maintenance, checkbook orders or replacement debit cards, going forward, Discover is eliminating fees for insufficient funds, excessive withdrawals, falling below minimum balances and stop-payment requests.
Redsys, the largest payments processor in Spain, and Discover Global Network, the payments brand of Discover Financial Services, announced that they have signed an agreement that will extend merchant acceptance throughout Spain.
