However, the major indices were still on track for their sixth straight weekly decline amid continued concerns about inflation and the Fed's ability to control it. In an NPR interview on Thursday, Fed Chair Jerome Powell reiterated that the central bank would likely raise interest rates by 50 basis points at each of its next two meetings, but that it was 'prepared to do more' if the data warranted. The Dow rose 1.4%, the S&P 2.1%, and the Nasdaq 3.6%. Crude oil rose $4 to $110 per barrel, while gold traded near $1813 per ounce.
