    Enel loses appetite for further acquisitions in Brazil

    Italian utility Enel SpA (ENEI.MI) has called a halt to further acquisitions in Brazil for the time being as it gears up to complete asset sales of up to 1.5 billion euros (1.34 billion pounds)in the second half of the year. "I don't see appetite for further acquisitions in Brazil at this stage," Enel CEO Francesco Starace told analysts on a conference call on Tuesday after the company released first-half results. In June, Europe's biggest utility agreed to spend almost $1.5 billion to buy a majority stake in Brazilian power company Eletropaulo (ELPL3.SA) and also said it could spend more than $2.3 billion to buy a Latin American fiber company.

    Italy's biggest utility Enel (ENEI.MI) is ready to discuss the sale of its stake in solar joint venture EF Solare to partner F2i, a source familiar with the matter said on Friday. Enel and F2i currently own 50 percent each of EF Solare, Italy's biggest solar power operator which could be worth more than 1.5 billion euros (1.33 billion pounds). In a statement on Thursday F2i said it had expressed its intention to acquire Enel's stake.

    Enel could spend up to 2.25 billion euros to buy Latam fiber group

    Enel agreed a deal on Monday that could see it spend more than 2 billion euros ($2.3 billion) to buy Latin American fiber company Ufinet International, as the Italian company looks to advance its ultrafast broadband ambitions. Europe's biggest utility said its Enel X unit would buy a 21 percent stake in Ufinet for 150 million euros ($175 million) with an option to buy the rest from owner Cinven for 1.32-2.1 billion euros. "This deal further strengthens our position as a leading infrastructure operator in the region," Enel CEO Francesco Starace said in a statement.

    ENEL S.p.A. -- Moody's reviews for downgrade the ratings of six Italian utilities

    Moody's Investors Service ("Moody's") has today placed on review for downgrade the long-term ratings of the following Italian utility issuers: CDP RETI S.p.A. (CDP RETI), Compagnia Valdostana delle Acque S.p.A. (CVA), Hera S.p.A. (Hera), Italgas S.p.A. (Italgas), SNAM S.p.A. (SNAM), and Terna - Rete Elettrica Nazionale S.p.A. (Terna). The decision to place the ratings on review for downgrade was prompted by the corresponding action on Italy's Baa2 government bond rating. The review for downgrade of CVA's Baa1 long-term issuer rating reflects the company's linkages with the sovereign, given that all its earnings are generated in Italy.

    Italy's biggest utility Enel said on Friday it had won its first green energy tender in India and planned to expand further in the country. Enel, one of Europe's biggest renewable energy players, said it had won the right to sign a 25-year energy supply contract for a 285 megawatt wind power farm in the state of Gujarat. The state-controlled utility said it would be investing more than $290 million to build the plant.
