In case anyone decides to understand their fundamentals, the company's gross margins in first 6 months of the year is ($11M) and only reason why they show net income of $12M is the sale of a business for $247M.
$1.7B in cash but they are about to spend $1.5B to expand capacity. Only way they will make money is from government subsidies. Recap: -ve gross margins, huge capex burn, huge opex burn (15% of Rev)

Someon tell me how there is a viable business here worth $15B.

First Solar earnings are going to be flat…new production will not ramp up anytime soon. The price can only go down from here, but in 2 years, they will double their gigawatt of production. 8 gigawatts…then 16..then 20…then to the sky in 5 years.

Solar gold rush offically over. Energy will continue to decline from here. With a recession that is certain to be here by next year and will last at least 18 months. Expect a rapid 38% decline from here and then swing it's way back to $30-40's before the next Solar cycle that begins after the recession. Look, look around and ask around to see who is happy with their Solar panels. I knew quite a few people installed solar panels with Federal subsize about a decade ago. They end up saving nothing especially after paying the basic electrical bill. The whole solar energy thing is a scam where the manufacturers simply taking the fed money - which isn't enough to make their stocks fly. Less and less people are signing up for the scam because at the end the customer doesn't save money. Yes the got those clunky things installed on their roof with gov subsidies but they save nothing. And it makes maintenance a nightmare especially if the neighborhood has lots of birds. Anyone who wanted to try the panels already had them installed. For those haven't, they probably get to learn about the scam and wont do it. While FSLR is sky high with the hype, it's best to sell and go short now. There is little upside and 70% downside for the next 12 months.

It seems to me that Goldman did their late to the party upgrade today in order to go short at the near term top. FSLR has an unsustainable RSI of 87.

FSLR is WAY overbought. With an RSI of 84, it has been parabolic. Sure, they will do well with the new climate bill, but the stock has travelled from about $75 to over $127 in 5 weeks. They won't even break ground on a new plant until after 2025. In this market environment, if it doesn't back and fill, they will give up half with a Fibonacci retracement.

So funny watching these retail maroons get ripped of time and time again! The markets are crashing, oil‘s crashing and first solar is up 100% from a month ago. Where do you think this price is headed? The problem is, nobody’s got the willpower to sell on the way down until prices get so cheap they’re scared and then they sell. It’s a long way down before they start getting scared!
