This is one of the most solidly run banks in America, running with high-profit margins and an unusually large safety reserve margin since 1922, letting them easily weather the low points in Alaska's economy (usually caused by low oil prices) as well as to take full advantage of Alaska's economic booms. This is a no-brainer stock to hold long-term and an easy acquisition target for a future national bank looking to get a solid presence in Alaska.

Although because they operate nearly entirely in Alaska, they can be at the whims of the state's economy and may crab sideways until the oil price significantly increases, thus bringing more economic activity to the state. Alaska has been struggling this year due to the historic drop in oil prices as well as COVID-19 completely eliminating the popular summer tourism season in Alaska. Now is a good time to get in on Alaskan stocks as long as these crushing factors reverse in the coming future.
