Long term capital gain distribution happened today for 0.929/share.

The way this fund holds up during downturns in unbelievable... Market down 2.8% and we’re up .5%! Especially with this being a high growth fund.

I love this mutual fund. good price point. no fuss no muss. every week add a few more shares.
Bullish

is this a good or bad thing?

The stock is splitting today. The value of your holding will not change according to the recorded message at Fidelity.

While it is very unusual for a fund to split(it is not a stock). Some of the previous comments are a little over board; the board is NOT ignorant as a post stated that they are! True that it does not increase the value of your holdings, BUT, what is DOES is make the fund shares more affordable to investors who could NOT buy enough shares to make it worth the investment. ( the price used to be $180 per share), So, many more investors MAY find it more attractive to buy now; There is NO DATA to prove or disprove that this is dilutive, bad, or good. The stock selection, timely buying and selling of stocks held along with the turnover rate WILL be the what determines how this fund performs. Just be patient and always be aware of the movement!!

Does anyone know where you could find the SCHEDULED date(or dates) for long term capital gains is? I could not FIND a SCHEDULED( easily found) date on when FSCSX was going to do the distribution and dividend! it REALLY should be on an EASILY found page in the FSCSX summary page at the Fidelity web site! It seems a little strange for FSCSX to do this now.what I have seen in the MANY past years with MOST mutual funds is -- the Long term Capital gains are USUALLY distributed on a CONSISTENT time around the END of the YEAR! Hope anyone can tell me WHERE to find the SCHEDULED distribution date is on Fidelity site for FSCSX? And tell me if this is a NORMAL time for a distribution for FSCSX, will they DO IT AGAIN at the end of the year LIKE MOST mutual funds??

The distributions were done on 12/17 for a total of 1.52. Hopefully this information will help those that think the NAV just crashed.

Has to be the split...holding dont reflect that kind of loss.
R
Capital gains and distributions should happen tomorrow after the close, and show up in the accounts Monday.
j
Is this still a long term hold and why or why not?
S
10 for 1 split
S
don't get it. Top 10 Holdings (61.26% of Total Assets) are up by between 1% and 7%, how come the FSCSX is up by only 0.17%, that is on a day where technology is rocketing. any one please with one or two liner explanation
R
Wow, not to be rude, but the ignorance on this board is amazing. FSCSX is a mutual fund, NOT a stock. The 10:1 split simply means you have 10 times the amount of shares at one tenth of the price. It does nothing to your total value and does nothing to you capital gains or losses. Thanks for letting me vent!

What caused todays 9% drop?
I
Is this fund worth it for the next 10 years??
Q
I invest 50/50 into FSCSX and VTSAX! Welcome comments!

The same thing happened with several other Fidelity funds. Doesn't really mean a thing. Don't get excited you didn't lose or gain a thing money wise.

I currently do not own any FSCSX. I am looking into purchasing some.
Hope anyone can tell me WHERE to find the SCHEDULED distribution date is on Fidelity site for FSCSX? And tell me if this is a NORMAL time for a distribution for FSCSX, will they DO IT AGAIN at the end of the year LIKE MOST mutual funds??
