Banks have seen significant increases in stock prices since President Donald Trump’s election last year, with many smaller retail banks reporting double- and even triple-digit increases. Analysts say the increase comes from the expectation that with Republicans in the White House, and controlling both chambers of Congress, many of President Barack Obama's financial regulations will be rolled back or repealed. Since election day, only 13 banks had reported share-price declines through July 21, according to an analysis about 450 publicly traded bank stocks by the American City Business Journals, the parent company of Albany Business Review.
