Zeekr is just the beginning. It's sales and profits will be reported under Gelyf/Gelyy/Hkg:0175. I believe Geely will surpass Nio. It has some catching up to do, but Geely as a company has better connections and business deals in place.

I’m kinda annoyed with geely auto holding. First the Volvo merger didn’t go through and now they come out with zeekr under a new brand with geely holding funding it. And mull over lotus and moving the geometry over to zeekr as well. Also zeekr and Volvo are considering doing a ipo.

What's going on James? Is the advent of Zeeker and other Geely offshoots beneficial to the Geely Holdings stock (0175.HK)? This stock has come back a bit in recent times but it moves upwards at a snail's pace. thanks

I’m still bullish on geely auto. The technology and designs are so cool. But I really can’t find anything about them making ev. I know they are the biggest car sellers in China for the past thee years which is crazy considering apple sells very little and that’s where they make the most money. The market is huge in China. And when I went to Malaysia proton was everywhere. Does anyone have any insight on ev production?

Should we be investing in Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co rather than GELYF? Not sure why this stock hardly goes up and mostly down. Anyone knows?

Geely Automovile Holding and Zhejiang Geely Holding are two separate entities. The first is the subsidiary of the second one. Both companies own different assets and the former trades in the stock exchange while the later doesn't. My concern is that while we hear lots of new joint ventures with Geely, most of them are done with Zhejiang Geely Holding. So for the publicly traded company there is no benefit related to the Baidu Joint Venture, nor the Foxconn, nor the Faraday deal, etc. Geely Auto Holding doesn't even own Volvo, nor Polestar. Those are fully owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding. Yesterday apparently Geely Auto was not allowed to be included in the Star Market in China because it's not tech enough! I think they are right, and it's time that Zhejiang Geely Holding share some assets with it subsidiary otherwise Geely auto will be not more than a commodity car manufacturer. They announced a another new brand, Zeekr: what is the point when Geely auto already own (even if unknown though) Geometry? Improvisation. Why not transferring some kind of ownership of Polestar (which is the best EV in the market today) to Geely Auto and develop the brand in China (Up to date, I have seen only 1 Polestar in the street of Shanghai while you see thousand of other EV around )? By 2015 Geely planned to go 90% Electric by 2020. Reality is that reach a skinny 5%. Hope managers are removed after this bad joke. Finally, hope the press can be more professional while informing news about Geely because they usually mix up the subsidiary and the holding Company, misleading potential investors with inaccurate news. Geely Auto doesn't own VOLVO ! Nor Polestar, nor have done any Joint Venture, except the one for Zeekr yesterday withe his own holding Company....

what is different between GELYY AND GELYF????

Just speculating, I believe Geely is the best prepared EV manufacturer to be Apple’s EV car partner. While doing Polestar in China with a avant garde concept, demonstrates it can do the best EV car in the market. The open manufacturing architecture for production they are developing goes in the same direction. Finally having a joint venture with Foxcomn it’s just the final step. Just... which company will do the deal: Zhejiang Geely Holding (which is private) or Geely Auto Holding (which trades in HK and USA)? Hope Geely Auto get something in the deal!

There is a basic confusion about Geely Auto and Geely Holding. The problem is that only Geely Auto trades publicly and basically doesn’t have any interesting assets (only Lynk & Co, which is a bet to say the best). All the recent deals are with Geely Zhejiang holding co, not with Geely Auto. It’s an extremely misleading and a sad reality for those who believe Geely have potential. The relationship between holding and subsidiary can be obscure: how to value the transfer of assets, cost and services between both? As of today, Apparently Geely Auto won’t be allowed to trade in the Mainland STAR market because it’s not tech enough. I think they are right! The holding need to transfer interesting assets to the Subsidiary otherwise it won’t be more than another commodity car factory. Let’s say, what about Polestar been owned by Geely Auto? Or even Volvo it self, or at least a fraction. About Geely I’m always wondering about the transfer of cost between Holding and subsidiaries. Unfortunately, It’s clear that Geely Auto it’s not priority for the owner. All the new deals takes place at the Holding co. They used to have this EV brand call Geometry... totally disappeared by today. Yesterday they announced a Joint venture with Geely holding to create a new EV brand, Zeekr (if I’m writing it correctly). Looks like a total improvisation for me.

BEIJING (Reuters) - Geely said on Monday it would build an electric vehicle battery factory with a planned annual manufacturing capacity of 42 gigawatt hours (GWh) in China's eastern city of Ganzhou, as it expands its EV line-up in the world's biggest car market.

The total investment in the project by Geely's technology arm will be 30 billion yuan ($4.61 billion), according to a separate statement from the local government.

Geely's technology group has previously invested in Ganzhou-based EV battery maker Farasis.

The planned factory comes after Geely announced a flurry of tie-ups in January aimed at turning the automaker into a leading EV contract manufacturer and engineering service provider, as it fights the incursion of EV leader Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) Inc.

    Geely Auto mentioned:

Volocopter, which has raised 322 million euros in total, said the new funding will “solidify” its position in urban air-mobility, helping its VoloCity craft through certification and accelerating the launch of commercial routes.

The two-seat model, powered by multiple electric rotors, performed its first manned test in 2011 and has since completed more than 1,000 flights.

The company, whose existing backers include carmakers Daimler AG and Geely Automobile Holdings Limited, as well as logistics firm DB Schenker and the venture-capital arm of chipmaker Intel Corp., is seeking FAA approval alongside an earlier application to the European Aviation Safety Agency, as well as Singaporean authorities.

Bravo Geely.... In the very introduction of the new brand press release (web page), they wrote the brand with a mistake ! Spot it: "Zeekr will create a new ecosystem that is focused on the full integration of the end user into a new super ecosystem focusing on the full service of end user requirements with an innovation as standard approach in terms of sales and servicing. The Chinese name of Zeeker has been confirmed as Ji Ke" (can't you invent an easier name? Actually Zeeker sounds better than Zeekr !) http://global.geely.com/media-center/news/geely-auto-forms-new-premium-electric-car-company-zeekr/

    Geely Automobile Holdings
China's largest privately owned carmaker said in June that it plans to raise up to 20 billion yuan on the Star Market.

The Zhejiang-based carmaker, the owner of Volvo Cars and the largest shareholder in Daimler, has joined the crowd of traditional carmakers seeking to redefine themselves as technology players.

Geely has plans to make 10 electric cars by 2025.
As part of the company's transformation, Geely formed alliances with Baidu, Tencent and Foxconn as it seeks to secure its position as one of the leading players in the future of transport.

Prospective investors should also note that Geely and several state-owned companies from Zhuhai have joined hands to bail out embattled EV maker Faraday Future, founded by the former internet Chinese tycoon Jia Yueting.
