You can blame me for today's action. Been sitting in cash all year, waiting for a compelling opportunity to strike. Seems like 13x earnings with 15% growth and a massive stock buyback program makes sense to take a chance on. They have done a great job controlling costs and are growing earnings faster than revenue, so I went in large yesterday. But alas, as is normally the case, the stock shoots straight down to hell, like it was shot out of a cannon, the minute I buy it. Not sure how much lower the valuation can go at this point but I guess we will see. Horrific sentiment in the market, which normally marks a bottom, but that doesn't really matter if it's just computers trading to computers. The computers don't care about valuation. Am I a moron to think anything is other than a beta play for the forseeable future? And if this thing pegs to 120 during options week it will be yet more evidence that the market is rigged.

Global Payments' business is exactly like SNAP, so I can see why it's getting pummeled this morning. They are both unprofitable companies heavily dependent on social media ad revenue, and have 50% annual growth rates embedded in their stock price. Make total sense. We are now into completely indiscriminate selling. Sometime between now and the fall there will be opportunities for investors to enrich themselves.

I was really hopeful of my investments this year, but all my plans has been disoriented, I've been studying the market crashes and I realized some investors made millions from the recent 2008 recession and I was wondering if such success rate could be achieved in this present market. and the Federal Reserve taking a more hawkish approach to interest rates and bond purchase tapering, a correction is underway

Had a chance to listen to the webcast today from the JP Morgan Technology Forum. GPN said trends through early May have been consistent with their previous forecasts. Still see the stock as a compelling investment opportunity through repurchases, but M&A is becoming more of a possibility as valuations reset. Highlighted their partnerships with AWS and Google as growth opportunities.

I do hope they are buying back shares in the low 120s. Beats buying them back in the 150s. Business travel continues to ramp back up. It may not hit levels just prior to covid, but a lot of upside left in GPN. I would not be surprised to hear of an acquisition in the near term with the correction bringing prices down.

What is so bad about their earnings that justify them dropping 12% on a single day??

recently opened a small position ($131.83), watching for abt 6mos...I'm thinking abt a GPN / SOFI merger. I think the potential mkt would be the fruition of an Amazon-like setup and near impenetrable moat. Thoughts?

Since the end of July GPN has followed the same trajectory as PYPL, just look at the charts. PYPL just started to recover and most analysts see a 30% - 50% increase in the next 12 months. Ray Dalio and Bridgewater Associates just bought a ton of GPN somewhere in the $130 area. I am setting a limit buy at $127 and will be happy to see this horse run back up....LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check this out the Pandemic low was around $126.00; we are only $10 bucks above that. Back in 03/2020 the Sky was falling. We just got and employment number that Employers added 531,000 jobs in October, a big improvement from the previous month and a sign of optimism as the latest coronavirus surge eases.
Also the Vaccine has now caused the USA to open travel from countries in Europe. Travel will add to Card spending big time. This stock is way under valued!
    Bullish

I've generally followed the stock market for 35 years and have heavily followed it for the last 10 years, and I have never seen a company of this size have a stock price more disconnected with available information than GPN is right now. If you look at their results, news reports, etc., the price makes no sense. Unless there are a bunch of whales who think the entire credit card industry will be replaced by block chain 3 years from now, this is a screaming buy.
