  • What happened with HPT today?
  • Owners of HPT just keep getting richer.
  • I guess today's sell off is due to the recent announcement of share offerings. This hurts.
  • When an increase of shares of a companies is declared, that generally results in a lowering of the share price.
The initial offering was for 11 million shares at a price of $30.75/ share. A second offering, of 1.65 million shares is good for another 30 days. Since the price is not announced for this second offering, I assume it is the same price as the first offering.
The share price has not fallen out of bed so to speak, but the next 30 days will tell a lot.
Just be aware of ownership date to receive the to be declared dividend.
  • Another good quarter goes unnoticed. Stock has had a good run but thought it would get back to $33 after earning.
  • Nice run as of late. Does anybody bother posting here anymore?? Been a month. Anyways, nice run in reits lately as there seems to be quite a reach for yield. Today when the RSI officially reached overbought I sold at 28.75 eod and sold short General Mills at 71.50. My thinking being that just bc Hershey got a bid does not at all entitle GIS to such a run. This cereal company is trading at 23x earnings, declining sales, and an RSI of 82. To me the risk reward seems favorable that both GIS and HPT will both decline in the coming days. Ideally I'd like to buy back HPT about $1 or so lower after also covering GIS when sanity returns. Sounded good when I thought of this investment thesis so of course I'm sure it won't work out at all the way I planned it. Anyways glta
  • Earnings. As usual the quarter looks fine at first blush. Best lodging REIT. Wish we could get a fair valuation though
  • HPT affiliate SIR has great quarter. take a look.
  • RMR Group rated outperform. by FBR.
  • Dividend raised. They did raise it up to 51 cents. I wasn't sure they would. Happy times are here. Now if we can just get that share price over $30 all will be well. I don't mind HPT despite what everyone says about the Portnoy's. They treat shareholders decent and always make their numbers.
  • Dividends declared for HPT(increase), SNH, SIR, GOV. Shorts getting clobbered. But the shorties hate Portnoys and like those 4% yielding reits. Go figure.
  • External management is a good thing. HPT has outperformed the hotel index. External management offers g&a consolidation, economies of scale, depth in expertise. After all, any company with a subsidiary has in place some form of "external management". This is a false myth created by short traders and jealous competitors.
  • Suckers are born every minute. short traders.
  • HPT makes a killing. with its vast array of properties and leases to TA. Anyone notice all of the TA expansion?
  • Broke 200 MA looking good.... $25.75 has been broken. good luck
  • HPT on a roll. great track record of dividends, just like SNH, HPT, SIR, GOV. Negative personal attacks are simply tacky from jealous competitors.
