Very consistent payouts, some brokers voice concern about HQH's leverage or us of borrowing, makes sense to me while money very inexpensive to secure.

    Real performance notes.

On the first day of trading in 2011 the stock was $13.96. It now trades at $23.28. A price appreciation of 67% for 10 years.

Average yields in that time have been around 9%.

$10,000 would have bought you 716 shares. With dividends reinvested your shares would have grown to 1695!

1695 x $23.28 would place your current investment at $39,459!

Need a 50-percent gain just to get back what I had 30 months ago here. While the S&P is up 25 percent over that same period. I hang on for the yield, but unclear whether it's worth it.

You never buy a closed end fund for capital appreciation. You buy it for the income only and hope you can keep your principle intact. This company cares enough about shareholders to do a stock buy back. The portfolio is well managed and the expenses very reasonable.
I recommend HQH and HQL more than THQ and THW because the expenses are much lower. If you want the monthly distribution payments you pay for them with higher expenses.

A good solid core holding alone or with some of the other Tekla funds.
Performance has slightly lagged the mammoth health specialty funds from Price, Fidelity and Vanguard but many are attracted to the fat yield which historically run around 9% for income or reinvestment into more shares.

When dividends are reinvested into more shares the fund has delivered an almost 12% annual performance since 1995 which is stellar and better than any of the major indices.

Discount to NAV is at 12% which is historically average but still attractive.

I have held HQH practically since the beginning of time and wonder if the EV takeover will affect results.

Like: REGN, HQH's largest and best position for years with very good reason, has been dropped or substantially reduced.

Why, Eaton Vance takeover changes, new management, less depth, or ?

    REGN 52 Week Range 441.00 - 674.45(today)
    Jan 2010: $18/share
    Current PE Ratio 12.15
    EPS 55.38

Or are they just cashing for momentary meat, like the fellow who killed a very valuable goose for meat?

New to this fund, anyone willing to share if there is an advantage to hold in an IRA or non-IRA account from a tax preparation point of view. Is there a K-1 like a LP? UBTI when in an IRA?

In today (DJIA down 800+) @ 20.36, a full 15% below NAV (net asset value). At times, HQH & HQL have traded above NAV. This is a bargain price and turns the normal 8% annual yield into 9%+.............Kel

HQH is a small holding in a diversified portfolio. Long term performance is hard to tell. Not reinvesting my dividends -- need them to pay increasing taxes everywhere else. Five years of Yahoo Finance history shows $9.00 of HQH dividends, which is about 7.7% annual not compounded. Share price is little changed. Won't make me rich but not an embarrassment either. I guess I'll hang on.
