Two Philadelphia hotels have completed millions of dollars in renovations that aim to keep the properties competitive amid a market that will be flooded with at least 2,000 new rooms over the next three years. Braemar Hotels & Resorts Inc. has completed a $20 million renovation and rebranding of the former Courtyard by Marriott at 21 N. Juniper St., which is across from City Hall. At the Westin, which is part of the Liberty Place complex, a $2 million project to expand its event space has been wrapped up and a second round of renovations are scheduled to begin in November. The Marriott Courtyard has been rebranded as the Notary and has become part of Marriott’s Autograph brand, a portfolio of 180 independent hotels that aren’t cookie cutter and seek to provide guests with a unique experience.

The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania-based real estate investment trust said it had funds from operations of $6.3 million, or less than 1 cent on a per-share basis, in the period.
