The company, which disclosed a service outage on its 29e satellite on April 10, said a failure review board has been convened with Boeing to complete an analysis of the cause of the anomaly. On April 7, the 29e propulsion system experienced damage, and while working to recover the satellite a second anomaly occurred, after which efforts to save the satellite were unsuccessful, the company said. Intelsat said restoration paths on other Intelsat satellites and third-party satellites have been provided for a majority of the disrupted services.
Intelsat S.A. said late Thursday it has lost one of its satellites, made by Boeing Co. , after an incident earlier this month. An "anomaly" previously disclosed "has resulted in the total loss of the Intelsat 29e spacecraft," the satellite company said. A review board has been convened to go over the incident alongside Boeing, Intelsat said. The Intelsat 29e propulsion system leaked on April 7, resulting in a service disruption to customers on the satellite, the company said. While working to recover the satellite, a second problem occurred "after which all efforts to recover the satellite were unsuccessful," the company said. Restoration paths on other Intelsat satellites and third-party satellites have been provided for a majority of the disrupted services. Shares on Intelsat fell 1.8% in the extended session after ending the regular trading day up 1.4%. Boeing shares were flat after closing 0.7% higher on Thursday.

Intelsat said it continues to work with Boeing on recovering communication with the satellite. The company is working to migrate customer services to other satellites. Intelsat said it won't determine the financial impact of the of the service disruption until the recovery mission concludes. Plans for the satellite communications company to capitalize on its enviable C-band spectrum were in doubt last month. Here's what investors need to know.
took off Wednesday after the company received an upgrade from JPMorgan and a boost to its target price on expectations its joint proposal with the so-called C-Band Alliance to use spectrum for mobile devices will win approval. Intelsat stock jumped almost 9%, gaining $1.35 to $16.70, after JPMorgan analyst Philip Cusick upgraded the company to overweight from neutral and raised his one-year target price on the stock $27. After being overly optimistic in the fall, the market is now "underpricing the likelihood" of Intelsat and the C-Band Alliance (CBA) eventually selling spectrum and "reaping substantial proceeds," Cusick said in a research note to clients.
