Erased almost all losses from warning, very quickly. My hope is they threw in the kitchen sink of all possible bad news. Hope they announce something mildly positive on call and ride the price of gold to $3000.

This company is wildly mispriced at $2.80 at $1,800 gold. Let's use some absurdly conservative numbers for Sum of the Parts here (USD).

Essakane: $500mm. Produces 360k attributable koz/year, and which threw off nearly $70mm of cash last quarter alone.

Rosebel: $250mm. 200+ koz a year, and Saramacca has yet to contribute.

Westwood: $75mm. IAG is $1bn+ in. A fiasco but they should make that out in remnant mining alone if the project doesn't work.

    Corporate: -$200mm in overhead.

    Projects

Cote: $500mm. Sumitomo bought in for 30% of the JV at $195mm, valuing at Iamgold's 70% stake at $455mm. Gold was $1,284 the day the deal was announced. Iamgold has put nine figures to work into the project since then.

Boto: $50mm. This mine will get built. They can sell it.

Other Exploration Portfolio: $25mm, a steal at that price.

    500 + 250 + 75 + 500 + 50 + 25 - 200 = $1,200mm.

Iamgold's enterprise value is $875mm today.

This is a steal. What am I missing?

Cote gold project has an NPV of $2billion assuming gold price of $1700. This means that company’s ownership of 65% is worth $1.3billion. Company’s enterprise value now is of $0.87billion. So, everything that is currently generating operating cashflow or $440mm per year is for free !!! That’s right…..al the mines that are working now are for free!! Now you understand why I own nearly 200k shares, and why I feel that insanity will end as market realizes there is literally free money embedded in this stock! People are scared of quarterly earnings report and throwing this away…….in 2023 when average person realizes that cashflow is about to explode with Cote mine coming on line the stock will breach $6/share. Owning this stock is way better than owning gold since gold will not double in 2 years, but IAG will !!!

I've been invested in IAG for 8 years. They almost ALWAYS disappoint on the quarterly reports. Among the miners, IAG is the runt of the litter. Poor results at 1400 gold, poor results at 1800 gold. A buyout is our only hope. Fortunately IAG has no debt which helps the buyout possibility.

A lot of these currency costs, fuel costs, labor costs and material costs were anticipated by the market for all the miners as a whole hence the selloff for most of them IMO. I calculated a 43 cent per share hit to 2021 (25 cents are for lower output and higher cash costs and 18 cents are Cote related) and an 18 cent hit in 2022 and another 18 cent hit in 2023 for Cote. The more than $1 or 475 million selloff in value in IAG since early June is way overdone. Yes, many of us didn't expect the extra costs to be this much but the market already more than priced it in. Since the price of gold only fell 3% since early June its way overdone! In my opinion we should be trading around $3. I think we will gradually climb back there. I also think that they put extra costs associated with Cote to be more conservative going forward so there will be no more surprises.

When the RBC analyst came out a week or so ago about a warning to downside risk based on Cote I figured it is possible but already priced in to the stock. I think the people that sold were the people that were in for a trade and threw in the towel. We still have the same amount of ounces in the ground as before so the NAV is more or less around the same. The reason to own gold is inflation and scarcity of it and inflation in our costs is another reason to own it because gold miners will not be drilling for free if costs keep going up!

June consumer inflation up 3.5%. Gold will be pressured to go higher, especially with equities topping out.

Novagold has 0 revenue and burning cash and its assets valued at 2.5B
Iamgold has 1.2B annual revenue, making profits and have cash equivalent > 1B then its assets have no value.

What is the equation of valuation here? Or it is just bad timing and bad stock chart?

What surprise issue will management come up with in order beat down what would otherwise be a stellar report this qtr? Sooner or later the stock is trading below break up value. At some point a wolf will buy up enough shares to control the company. I suspect behind the scenes this is already happening for gold mining stocks. Hugh cash positions and no debt means assets are trading for free. New owners will oust current management and take private. Cash cow!

Gold is at 1800, but gold equities are getting destroyed all across the board while zero sales generating fintechs are getting IPOs with tens of billions of dollars in valuation all over the place, something has to give.
