Don't rule out that another bigger trucking company like $ODFL $KNX $JBHT $SAIA looks to make a play on them and take them out. They could all grow their businesses significantly if looking, and try to make a move on the cheap.

Today, 7/19, is an optimistic Q2 earnings report day. Many optimists were buying early in the morning at 170. There is, in this last 1/2 hour of trading, many other optimists buying at 4 points higher. Question: Which group would you hire from ?

A little insight from working within the industry...load volumes are down over 75% from the highs in January. They are down 55% from this same day last year. Volumes declined 50% from the beginning of March to right now alone. Dramatically declining volume and rates, on top of increased prices for new and used trucks, maintenance, and driver pay, plus interest rates on the rise lead me to believe the whole industry is due for a correction. The Fed has pretty much said they are going to slow demand and we're seeing it in the transportation industry right now. This got oversold extremely quickly so wouldn't be surprised to see a bounce in the short term, but this isn't done dropping.

Revenue up 33%, Earnings up 67%, Volume up 12%, so I guess Nick who below said volumes down 50% and the trucking "expert" FreightWaves who said we are headed for a “a bloodbath” in the trucking industry. He said “soft volumes”, “consumer demand slowing down”, “consumers switching from physical goods to entertainment”, “fuel prices killing the truckers”, “trucking spot rates plunging”, “a rash of trucking bankruptcies on the way”, “Bloodbath 2.0”, “unseasoned and inexperienced operators”, “declining volumes across the board” were just a little off. Reminder listen to the actual companies, not self-serving "experts" LOL

Look at the total volume, the share count here is relatively small, more so when you back out the US Treasury shares. For a hedge fund or someone to come in and build a position it takes a while and the sop up a lot of the shares. For example on a "heavy" trading day of 1M shares, that's only $14M worth of stock changing hands. I think funds are really starting to notice the value disconnect between YELL and peers like $ODFL $SNDR $KNX $SAIA $JBHT $WERN $ARBC $HTLD It's very easy to see when comparing revenue as YELL is the 2nd largest LTL carrier and many of these other companies have a lot less revenue, terminals, and assets. The market missed the value on YELL and you are seeing it start to catch up. The insider buys at these high levels, after the earnings blackout is also a good indicator of faith and value of the company too.

Massive vote of confidence with the various insider buys the last week. I think the market is beginning to wake up to the fact for their revenue and size, they are grossly undervalued when compared to their peers and even perhaps make sense as an acquisition or roll up from a competitor $ODFL $JBHT $SAIA $KNX $HTLD $SNDR

Look at the numbers: ODFL and JB hunt are like making a lot more earnings and revenue, but their market caps are way way higher than yell. Apples to apples you feel like Yell is worth $30.

Get your paper out and make three columns and do the math for yourself: $ODFL, $JBHT, $YELL; Revenue, Earnings, Debt, Market Cap.

Has anyone looked the port backlog? It's at a record again. The more surprising thing is the ports are doing record throughput and volume, so it's a demand issue not necessarily that the ports have been slow. I think that bodes well for freight amongst all the trucking companies, whether it's YELL or $ODFL $SAIA $KNX $JBHT, although for revenue and potential YELL seems to be the best buy in the sector with low market cap compared to their revenue, so a long runway to really get a good return as they capitalize on the freight. Plus so many industries like automotive operating at a lower capacity, those will pick up, meaning a lot more freight needs to move too as they slowly clear the chip shortages and other material shortages too.

Very nice earnings from $JBHT - they strongly beat the expectations by significant margin. Next is $ODFL, expected the same, then finally $YELL also the same: to strongly beat the earnings expectations and continue with the upward direction of its share price.

Even train have flat tires today........... The whole transportation sector is somehow "punished" to make a super job of fighting supply chain problems....... Really not fair..... but what is fair on WS ?

There seems to be a disconnect with share price and Earnings here. With many of trucking companies they are essentially overvalued even at bottom of barrel prices because their earnings have sucked. Yet, here it seems the share price is below the earnings. Interesting....I think this goes back up a little bit in short order, should stabilize there.

Why JBHT is dropping when everything is getting better ? Don’t see any reason? Any clue ??
