Just a question of time before Amazon acquires Jumia. There is no way Amazon will be able to navigate Africa's chaotic infrastructure without Jumia's rails. I have spent time in Subsaharan Africa and AMZN will have to spend at least 10 years before they can pretend to take baby steps on their own. Delivering in USA infrastructure is easy - anyone with a pulse can do it, but Africa will be a major challenge and Jumia is the gatekeeper for Amazon.

UNDP, Jumia and Market Vendors all benefiting from unique E-Commerce Partnership
    https://www.undp.org/uganda/blog/undp-jumia-and-market-vendors-all-benefiting-unique-e-commerce-partnership
"With consumers now shopping for fresh produce online, market vendors have not only increased their sales by more than double, but they have also gained business management skills from training offered through this UNDP x Jumia initiative.

Jumia has since expanded the platform to reach 10 markets by adding Ntinda, Owino and Entebbe. More than 4,000 market vendors have now been registered on the platform, with more than 60% of these being women, youth and people with disabilities. Meanwhile, this new market segment is now selling more than 300,000 unique products each month."

AMZN recently stated they plan a huge expansion in Africa.

AMZN can spend a number of years - and an unknown amount of dollars (billions) - acquiring customers, learning their buying habits, building logistics and distribution; etc. in Africa, but why not instead save time/money and jump start their efforts by simply buying the already established leader in Africa and build upon it?

AMZN has a current market cap of $1.435T. (That's 1 trillion, 435 billion.)

AMZN could buy JMIA for $2B, and in doing so this would be the equivalent of reducing their market cap by .002; or "down to" $1.433T.

Which in AMZN money is an irrelevant amount (which is why they will do it), but would provide current JMIA shareholders with an almost 3x premium over the current PPS.

AMZN is going to buy JMIA, because it makes sense for AMZN to buy JMIA.
