Nvidia gave up most of its early gains and finished nearly flat for the day, and Boeing shares fell 5% after the company warned of delivery delays for its 737 MAX jets due to a defective part from a supplier. On the employment front, first-time claims for state unemployment benefits fell by 10,000 to a seasonally adjusted 230,000 for the week ended August 19, below the Reuters consensus forecast of 240,000.
