      UPDATE 1-Brazil's BR Distribuidora and retailer Lojas Americanas form joint venture

      Brazil's largest gas station chain, BR Distribuidora, has signed a binding agreement with retailer Lojas Americanas SA for an association at convenience stores, the companies said in filings on Thursday. The partnership will explore the small retail store business, inside and outside the 1,200 gas stations owned by Petroleo Distribuidora SA, as the fuel distributor is formally known, the companies said. Lojas Americanas will pay 305 million reais ($56.19 million) to form a joint venture through the "Local" and "BR Mania" store chains.

      Brazilian cash back provider Meliuz hires banks for IPO -sources

      Brazilian online coupon and cash rebates provider Meliuz has hired banks to manage an initial public offering, three sources familiar with the matter said on Thursday. Investment banking units of Banco BTG Pactual SA, Banco Bradesco SA, XP Inc and Itau Unibanco Holding SA will manage the offering, expected by the end of this year. Founded by Israel Salmen and Ofli Guimaraes in 2011, Meliuz has roughly 10 million registered users and partners with retailers such as Magazine Luiza SA, Lojas Americanas SA, and Amazon, as well as with other providers like Uber Technologies.
