The stock is already trading at ex-dividend price. Why haven’t I received my dividend yet?

It appears the true ex-dividend date is November 1, in regards to their stock price, effect.

"As previously announced, the special cash distribution equal to $7.01 per share of the Company's Class A common stock and Class B common stock is scheduled to be paid on October 29, 2021 to each stockholder of record on October 6, 2021.

Because the payment of the Distribution represents more than 25% of the stock price on the declaration date, Nasdaq has determined that the Company's shares will trade with "due bills" representing an assignment of the right to receive the Distribution during the Due Bill Period. The shares will not trade ex-dividend until November 1, 2021, the first business day after the payment date. Stockholders who sell their shares during the Due Bill Period will not be entitled to receive the Distribution".

Years ago I owend Rio Tinto and the same special Div type of thing happend. Then date $LAUR goes EX-DIV the share price will drop by $7.01/Share. In the case of Rio Tinto it only took a few months to move back to pre-special Dividend price.
I post this only so those that may assume they are going to get the DIV plus have the shares stay at $17.90 are informed.

    Pros need some education here:

Is it worth buying LAUR at 18 before Oct 6 and hold until Nov 1 to get $7.01 tax free?
If it drops to $10 after Nov 1 is it worth it?

Over the last 4 months the price has been in the
    $13-$16 range.
The 1 year low is $11.79.
That’s all before any special dividend was announced.
It’s safe to assume that after the dividend is paid it’ll go back to that range.
    $13-$16 not $10-$11.
    Bullish

I heard that Laureate Education implemented a program called Positive Leadership. Can someone please comment generally on what that was all about, and how well it worked for Laureate?

Foreign investors, Does anyone know why special dividends are not taxed?

When the special dividend is paid the price will most likely drop reflecting the payout. The company will no longer have the previous assets on the books. It is a gamble whether the share price will equal the current price minus the payout or even recover. On "special dividend payout" plays don't invest money you cant afford to lose or can't wait out recovery. For everyone that holds it past the pay date I hope you make good money but I traded mine the day before ex div date.

I feel this stock is very undervalued. PE is 3 and its revenue stream doesn’t seem like it will go away. I don’t know.

1 Billion in revenue with P/E of 17…but 13,000 employees…diversified over five countries…how can it have 102% ownership by big firms? 102% of what?
