It’s off-message and tone deaf — that’s why Victoria’s Secret is struggling, and the #MeToo movement likely has something to do with it, according to YouGov, the public opinion and data company. The firm’s brand-perception measure, BrandIndex, found that Victoria Secret’s “buzz score” is declining among women ages 18 to 49, down to a score of 23, compared with a high of 31 just two years ago. Data also revealed that fewer women that age are buying from the brand now than did in 2013, at the height of Victoria Secret’s buzz score.
The last change in the short interest score occurred more than 1 month ago and implies that there has been little change in sentiment among investors who seek to profit from falling equity prices. Index (PMI) data, output in the Consumer Services sector is rising.
New-Jersey-based retail store chain Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY) released its fourth quarter and full-year 2017 earnings results on April 11, 2018, after the market closed. Revenue rose 5.1% YoY to $3.7 billion compared to $3.5 billion in 4Q16. Earnings per share fell hard by 19.6% to $1.4 in 4Q17 from $1.8 in 4Q16. Revenue exceeded estimates by 0.92% and EPS exceeded estimates by 6.4%. The stock lost 17.7% last week.
