Two Colorado companies team to create research station in orbit, the second local space station project announced this year.
Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT) today announced its board of directors has elected John M. Donovan to the board, effective immediately. The board determined that Donovan is an "independent director" in accordance with the New York Stock Exchange listing standards, the rules and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the corporation's corporate governance guidelines. Donovan will serve on the corporation's Classified Business and Security Committee.
Nanoracks, in collaboration with Voyager Space and Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT], has formed a team to develop the first-ever free flying commercial space station. The space station, known as Starlab, will be a continuously crewed commercial platform, dedicated to conducting critical research, fostering industrial activity, and ensuring continued U.S. presence and leadership in low-Earth orbit. Starlab is expected to achieve initial operational capability by 2027.
