What is the object of selling the Houston refinery? I don't see where it is partially good for stock holders. Braskem which is in the process of selling itself has the opposite problem. The buyers seem to only want the U.S. refinery assets.

The refinery sale is about profitability . I bet they would change their minds if oil went to $80 to $90 per barrel . But right now it's not that profitable . Remember , the refinery arm lost money last year during the initial COVID epidemic , while the rest of the the business saw profits.

Larger question becomes does Patel take his people with him to Grace. Seems very likely as Standard paid a big premium for the complacent Grace. Must have had a plan to bring Patel and friends in to clean house there.

Suspected something awful was in the making when the walk back from $118 kicked in. Didn’t suspect the CEO LEAVING. is Grace not a competitor? They are being acquired by years end. Tough to pick a bottom here. Maybe look at graces new owners.

Any doubt about LYB, just look at what they manufacture and refine. They manufacture petrochemical products that are used in a wide range of industries, including in the manufacturing of personal care products, lightweight plastics, food packaging, automotive components, for medical applications, biofuels, and more. It’s ironic that all the "green people" who despise oil and plastics when many of their 'health foods and products are packaged in, quiet, don’t tell them!

If the price of the shares keeps dropping, who isn’t adding? Awesome eps and dividend. A drop in eps is still a screaming buy at this valuation.

With the order backlogs and material shortages they have been able to increase prices. The chemical industry is doing well beating earnings and LYB will blow out earnings tomorrow. The stock will pop! The analyst predicting $6.45 / share will be the closest. $120 per share near term seems solid; $150 possible. Q4 when the backlogs are shorter and pricing drops the stock will come back down to $110-120 range.
    Bullish

Remember there are huge gains for those who bought in the $30’s $40’s and up to $120 over the past year or so. Have to be many selling to lock in those gains or limit losses if they bought high. Tops are difficult to read, bottoms near impossible!

It is so obvious that the analyst at Bank of America Securities has shorted this stock. The followers again no nothing and his analysis is self serving. So said that this down grade initiated the stop losses to trigger. Be careful and do your own analysis.

Not to worry, my first buy was $98.00. I'm not a hedge fund mgr. who bought a thousand shares, I am just adding to my dividend column!
