La-Z-Boy Incorporated (LZB) today announced it intends to acquire the Arizona La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries® stores, which compose the largest-volume licensee operator within the 350-store network, from EBCO, Inc., owned by Edward O. Breunig, III, an independent dealer. Based on calendar-year 2017 revenue, the EBCO organization ranks 77th in Furniture Today’s Top 100 U.S. Furniture Stores listing, published in May 2018. It was also named one of the Top Companies to Work for in Arizona in 2018, by AZ Central, a USA Today publication. The nine stores will become part of the La-Z-Boy retail segment and will bring the total company-owned store count to 155. Kurt L. La-Z-Boy Inc. (lzb) said late Monday it had agreed to buy Joybird, an e-commerce retailer and maker of upholstered furniture, aiming at millennial buyers with a taste for mid-century modern furnishings. La-Z-Boy Incorporated (NYSE:LZB) posted its latest quarterly earnings results on Tuesday after the bell, which were mixed as earnings topped expectations but revenue missed the mark. For its fourth quarter of fiscal 2018, the furniture maker posted earnings per diluted share of 72 cents per share, a 26.3% gain compared to the year-ago quarter and included a 6 cents per share benefit related to the tax reform. La-Z-Boy’s consolidated sales for the quarter were 1.8% higher than in the year-ago period at $420 million, but they fell behind the Wall Street consensus estimate of $427.4 million.
