Facebook Inc. said Thursday that it was beginning the rollout of its online-dating product in Colombia. Facebook Dating will have a separate space on Facebook and will suggest matches based on preferences and interests. Users won't be shown their Facebook friends or people they've blocked on the core service. "More than 200 million people have listed themselves as single in their relationship status on Facebook," Facebook Dating's product manager Nathan Sharp said in a statement. "We view this as an incredible opportunity to continue helping people build relationships in meaningful ways on Facebook." The product isn't yet available in the U.S. Facebook shares are up 1.6% in midday trading Thursday, while Match Group Inc. shares are down 3.2%. Facebook's stock has fallen 3.8% over the past 12 months, as the S&P 500 has gained 17%.

Earlier this summer, Tinder began testing a new feature that surfaces a curated list of your best potential matches, called "Top Picks." The feature, which is only available to paying subscribers on Tinder Gold, is now available worldwide, Tinder says. Top Picks had also quietly launched in the U.S. and U.K. last week following initial tests in Germany, Brazil, France, Canada, Turkey, Mexico, Sweden, Russia and the Netherlands, in addition to the U.K. However, Tinder waited until the global rollout was underway to announce its arrival. The idea behind Top Picks seems a bit inspired by the dating app Coffee Meets Bagel, which similarly focuses on curation of matches to reduce users' impulse to continue swiping through what feels like an unlimited number of profiles.
