    Former MGIC chairman, Leon Kendall, dies at 89

    Leon Kendall, named president of Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corp. in Milwaukee in 1973 and chairman in 1981, passed away Sept. 11. Kendall began his professional career as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and became chief economist at the U.S. Savings & Loan League in Chicago in 1958. Kendall, an author and a professor at Northwestern University, over his career held more than 40 directorships and advisory board positions, ranging from MGIC (1973-1989) to Universal Foods, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Cardinal Stritch University, Marquette University, Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) and the Fox Point Village Board of Appeals.
