Right now 5G phones are doing really well and the 28nm chip is taking market share in both South Korea and China. But the US is behind?.Apple?s iPhone 12 OLED panels are being produced by LG and Samsung, as BOE didn?t pass certification. MX?s largest 2 customers are LG and Samsung and Magnachip should continue to get these wins. See Needham?s comments from 2018 below.?with the demand exceeding supply out there from new design wins. I think Needham?s insight from 2018 hopefully are here?.Magnachip?s OLED drivers should make it into the iPhone 1. Looks like it?this stock should move upwards now in the second half of 2020. And with the foundry deal closing sooner than expected?.Needham?s comments FROM 2018 on Apple and Magnachip ? Needham & Company analyst Rajvindra Gill reiterated a Buy rating on Magnachip Semiconductor (NYSE: MX) following results which showed OLED regained momentum.Gill commented, "OLED revenue was the highlight of the qrt. while GM was inline despite wafer price headwinds. In our view, this quarter was critical: 1) OLED attach rates in the Chinese handset market is indeed accelerating, despite the volatility around the Apple iPhone X; and 2) demonstrates MX's comprehensive OELD product portfolio and inherent cost advantage in OLED, and hence enabling Chinese OEMs to offer "iPhone" like experience at roughly half the BOM. OLED revenue this year is expected to exceed 2016's figure of ~$160MM, which would still only represent less than 10% attach rate. Importantly, while still unknown, we believe MX is in a good competitive position to be a second source to Apple for the OLED #$%$ next year as it is taping out a 28nm OLED #$%$ with exceptional low-power."

192mm cash and 305 debt on most recent balance sheet. After sale and debt pay down, 240mm net cash -> half market cap is cash...and company generates ~40-50mm of EBITDA. At 10x EV multiple this is at least 100% upside...

It's hard to believe that the MX stock price has held up today with a 600 point drop in the Nasdaq. Only down $0.04!

I indicated that you had to at least wait for the deal to close which would be a positive for the stock (and it is). The market has been out of its mind so I'm bracing for a pullback but lets home MX can tread water here in the $13 range and maybe they'll have an off-the-charts analyst day - any announcement regarding being a supplier to the iPhone would send this to high teens I think.
    Bullish

So there are 4 investor conferences coming up. That is good...I hope MX management has their numbers together for what the business looks like after the foundry is spun off.... great chance to to get some interest in this company/stock. But lets not bungle how they report Q1 numbers vs Q2. JY and the team needs to get their act together and deliver a solid presentation and answer questions. If the foundry closes before these conferences, great. If it doesn't....still give firm/solid numbers post divestiture. Good opportunities here...lets not waste it.

It’s very nice to see some insiders finally use their own cash to buy shares on the open market. This will send a very high level of confidence in the company’s future to the investing community.. We should move strongly upwards from here.

Yes, nice to see a nominal insider buy by YJ and another MX exec. And citi came out with a neutral rating on the stock yesterday. As always they are clueless. Not much will happen until the foundry sale is done here and they get some much needed street awareness. Amazing the run up in the market and MX doesn't participate. Pretty much will be left with no debt, possibly $175+ million in cash...some accrued pension costs, but should be profitable and generating cash on an ongoing basis. And the stock is still in the toilet.

Feels like a foreign listed company, not a US listed company...as news and interviews happen in Korea, but the US...nah...just come here for an IPO and do the needed check the box of quarterly earnings and a press release here or there.

If it doesn't pop on the foundry sale and have forward momentum after analyst day. It's just an example of a company that benefits management thru share grants, nice salaries and benefits and shareholders are an after thought. At some point Oaktree, Evermore, Bridgade will just say....done!!! Those who control the asset benefit, shareholders....nada!
