German wind turbine maker Nordex will decide this year whether to bring back online its mothballed production site in West Branch, Iowa, hoping for a pickup in U.S. demand following the introduction of the Inflation Reduction Act. "It's a very good ... plant that, with minimum capital expenditure, can be brought to life again," Nordex CEO Jose Luis Blanco told Reuters. Blanco said he wanted to see "real demand signals" before the plant - which was mothballed a decade ago and passed to Nordex with its 2016 acquisition of Acciona Wind Power - would be restarted.
Spanish engineering firm Acciona and Germany's Nordex said on Friday they teamed up to develop green hydrogen projects within the next 10 years in the United States, Latin America and Africa. The 50-50 joint venture aims to reach the ready-to-build stage for its first projects by 2027 and expects to reach a production capacity of 500,000 tons of green hydrogen per year, the two companies said in a statement. Acciona owns a 41% stake in Nordex and its energy unit Acciona Energias will also participate in the joint venture.

German wind turbine maker Nordex reported a 21% fall in 2022 first half sales on Sunday, citing lower demand for installations, and stuck to a forecast of a drop for the year as a whole. Nordex said the war in Ukraine, the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing energy and logistics disruptions had led to negative first-half earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 173.3 million euros, after a positive 68.4 million euro result in the same year-ago period. Looking to the full year, consolidated sales in 2022 should come in between 5.2 and 5.7 billion euros, compared with 5.4-6.0 billion originally forecast, and the EBITDA margin at minus 4% to zero%, Nordex reiterated.
