if Briguy is really long for 2 years, he bought in around 40, and now NEM is over 60. Apparently he or she is complaining about a 25% a year appreciation + dividends.

Anyone else notice that the only time Guy Adami recommends this on Fast Money is always (and I mean always) AFTER it has aready just popped? Yesterday he recommended it after it popped 6% or more on the day. If you were to buy this every time he has said to and sold a week later, you would probably be broke by now. Guy Adami is a great guy and definitely my favorite on that show, especially when compared to a few rather annoying others (Tim Seymour, Dan Nathan...), but his calls on NEM are never timely, to say the least. The ONLY way to have successfully traded gold stocks in recent memory is never to have bought on strength but rather to have entered only on extreme weakness, of which there has not been any shortage.

Loaded up in mid 50s and buying more everyday. Lots of trouble for my once great country. Gold will do ok if the dollar remains firm but will go ballistic if it craters. Plus I’ll just keep taking the nice divvy

Any of you remember when Barrick was selling massive future gold production, causing price suppression? Perhaps we're seeing some of that in a different form. Fascinating article on what's happened in Nevada involving NEM and GOLD in a regional joint operation. Well worth bookmarking and printing. https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/how-a-mega-gold-mining-merger-tightened-a-companys-hold-on-northern-nevada
In 2019, two mining giants joined forces, with huge consequences for a Northern Nevada community and economy.

I'd like to understand thinking on buying this pig vs #NEM. Newmont, essentially flat for year when adding in dividend. First Majestic, which is now a gold & silver miner is down 20% past 52 weeks. What are buyers seeing here that they don't see in Newmont. And, they actually make money and produce more silver than First Majestic produces in both their gold and silver.

Am I correct Newmont's AISC is around $1,020/oz? If so, shouldn't Newmont continue making lot of money and paying great dividend with gold at $1,800/oz? Dividend of $2.20/sh works out to around 4% yield. Seems shares should move higher if gold stays comfortably above $1,200/oz. Or am I missing something?

NEM is more than a gold stock. Many other precious metals are in their mining portfolio.
It gives a good dividend as well, while we wait for the green back to continue it's falter due to inflation.
I'm not a gold bug by any means. I buy stocks that look interesting in it's present value and NEM meets my criterion.

Can some one explain the price fluctuation in the last 24 hours; went down to 53.50 then up today; is it response to Fed's decision to hold off on raising interest rates?

You want safe dividend at same time owning a miner? Buy #NEM (3.2%) or base miner #BHP (10%). Don't buy a penny miner like #GORO, which only has about 7 years of mine life(s) left, where #NEM & #BHP have 30-70 years of mine lifes....don't listen to modern day boilerplate operators.

Come on. Please stop talking about a short squeeze. How do you get a short squeeze on a stock whose outstanding shares are less than 1% shorted. Gold should rally, though, because market knows multiple rate hikes usually end in recession, which translates to higher gold prices. GLTA

#BHP article out about looking for acquisitions (M&A)....mostly geared to glencore and freeport...Freeport... this is false flag operation, but they are looking for nickel and copper. Newmont part owner of Agua Rica (MARA - joint venture) that's sitting on humungous copper deposit. just fyi.

Although I pointed out yesterday how Guy Adami always seems to like to recommend NEM after the pops rather than the drops, I do commend his call this week in hindsight. Certainly outperformed most of the carnage today, as it should have.
