One should not underestimate the potential of Lonovo and Daimler settlement deals with Nokia. Apple settled with Nokia on USD 2 billion few years ago. If Nokia can manage the same with Lonovo who has the largest computer sales in the world, this would be ~USD 0.35 per share. Imagine used to reduce debt, add to dividends or do buyback with it. Will be massive!

NOKIA SEEKS TO BLOCK LENOVO SALES IN GERMANY OVER PATENT LICENSING. Nokia on Tuesday sought to enforce an injunction against Lenovo, the world’s biggest PC maker, to block sales of its products in Germany after violation of a video encoding patent. Nokia has previously sued Apple for infringing its patents and received $2 billion in settlement in 2017.

H.264 technology is a video compression format widely used in smartphones and computers. A Munich court ruled on Sept. 30 that Hong Kong-listed Lenovo infringed one of Nokia’s patents, ordered an injunction and a recall of products from retailers, among other things.

Nokia launched its legal battle against Lenovo last year over alleged infringement of 20 patents. The Finnish company has ongoing cases against Lenovo in the United States, Brazil and India, in addition to six cases in Germany. Lenovo has appealed against the Munich court ruling.

VERIZON PUTS PRIVATE 5G IN FOCUS WITH NOKIA, MICROSOFT PARTNERSHIPS. Today Verizon said it will offer private 5G network solutions to enterprises in Europe and Asia-Pacific with Nokia, using the Finnish vendor’s Digital Automation Cloud (NDAC) tools. The move to help international business customers deploy dedicated 5G networks expands on Verizon’s network-as-a-service (NaaS) strategy, and points to growing enterprise interest in private cellular networks.

According to Crawford, Verizon’s private 5G managed service solution for global enterprises consists of “the Nokia NDAC (core, radio antenna), coupled with Verizon’s existing portfolio of managed WAN and LAN services, as well as professional services to define exact requirements for a given use case.”

Nokia, for its part, has been pretty clear about engaging enterprise customers both directly and through partners. It already counts more than 180 private wireless deployments, of which around 60-70% are outside of North America. Nokia’s head of business development for private wireless Dustin LaMascus said about half of its private wireless sales are direct, while the other 50% are in-direct, either through carriers or smaller partners including local systems integrators.

Verizon signs up Microsoft, Nokia to help clients build private 5G networks
    By Supantha Mukherjee, Kenneth Li

Verizon VZ.N said on Monday it has struck deals with Microsoft MSFT.O and Nokia NOKIA.HE to improve the telecoms giant's ability to target business customers by offering clients the ability to automate factory floors, lower costs and speed up data traffic through private 5G networks.

Private 5G networks remove the need for businesses to jostle for speed with others on a public network and help enable data-intensive applications that use computer vision, augmented reality and machine learning to increase productivity.

Azure, Microsoft’s cloud computing business, will run on top of Verizon’s 5G network to processes the data generated by machines at the local facility and use artificial intelligence to automate operations. Microsoft launched the new service late last month directed at telecom operators.

Nokia Bell Lab in New Jersey gets a contract to build cell phone network on the moon. Wow, Bell Lab, the mother lab of US communication industry and innovation, is finally activated to work for Nokia. The lab had 9 Nobel Prize winners. Hope the lab will be fully expanded by Nokia to return it to the world power house again.

VERIZON BUSINESS TAKES PRIVATE 5G GLOBAL WITH NOKIA. Verizon Business today announced the launch of its international private 5G platform for global enterprises located in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Delivered in partnership with Nokia, the offering will enable businesses to deploy a private industrial grade dedicated 5G network capability within their premises. In addition to ultra-low latency and increased speed, a key benefit of a private 5G network is the ability for businesses, particularly those with manufacturing, distribution and logistics facilities, to deploy a customized on-site mobile network, eliminating the need to transmit data through public networks.

"Today, we’ve announced the next phase of Verizon's global 5G vision with the launch of private 5G for our international customers,” said Tami Erwin, CEO, Verizon Business. “If the past few months have taught us anything, it’s that there’s never been a more critical time for mobility, broadband and cloud products and services. Private 5G networks will be a transformative technology that will drive the new era of disruption and innovation for enterprises around the world."

I know it's been better to sell and buy in lower to make profits in the past, but NOK is getting close to changing that with higher profits and revenue. As investors see new growth, Nokia will jump a buck at a time leaving all sellers in its wake! It's time to start buying a holding or do as I do and hold 80 for very long time and play with 20%... to past the time until the reckoning!

WITH SWEDEN THE LIST OF SECURE 5G COUNTRIES GETS LONGER: Australia had already imposed its 5G ban on Huawei back in August 2018. Huawei's Australian arm saw a steep 78% decline in its profits the following year. In Canada, Bell Canada and Telus decided in June to collaborate on building a 5G network using Ericsson and Nokia equipment, excluding Huawei. The UK imposed a ban in July for buying new Huawei 5G equipment after the end of December 2020, and it said existing Huawei equipment must be removed from its 5G network by 2027. Some back-bench MPs have pushed for the UK's 2027 deadline to come sooner. Slovenia signed a "clean network" deal with the US in August not to use Huawei or ZTE equipment in its 5G network. Telecom Italia excluded Huawei from its July tender to build the country's core 5G network, while in Belgium, Orange and Proximus decided to exclude Huawei and partner with Nokia in October. France has told operators they will not be able to renew licenses for Huawei 5G equipment when they expire. Germany, while not explicitly banning Huawei, has announced more thorough oversight of network vendors.
