Canadian potash producer Nutrien is not focused on any potential collaboration with miner BHP Group, a senior Nutrien executive said on Tuesday in the company's first public comments about reports of possible cooperation. BHP has for years been constructing a potash mine at Jansen, Saskatchewan, near Nutrien's six mines in the Canadian province. Canada's Globe and Mail newspaper reported in May that BHP and Nutrien were negotiating a joint venture that would see Nutrien take control of the Jansen mine, while Bloomberg reported the companies discussed various partnership options.
WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Reuters) -Canadian fertilizer producer Nutrien Ltd said on Monday it would boost 2021 output of the crop nutrient potash by 500,000 tonnes, after the European Union imposed trade sanctions on Belarus. Nutrien's increase takes its potash sales outlook this year to a record-high range of 13.3 million to 13.8 million tonnes, and follows a previous 500,000-tonne production increase announced this month. Western powers hit Belarus with sanctions in a coordinated response to Minsk's forced landing of a Ryanair plane last month to arrest a journalist on board.
