Why is this stock getting crushed with no news? From what I've seen is NG prices are higher and this company was upgraded by analyst recently, but it is down big since late december.

Anyone have thoughts on NWN as an investment. My thoughts: Natural gas is under pressure (forgive the pun) due to environmental concerns. With the pro environmental administration pushing green expanding use of gas will be very difficult. Natural gas is cleaner but still considered dirty. NWN is quietly buying up water systems. Many of the water systems being purchased were small and privately owned but some city owned are also being sold. Even though utilities are regulated a profitable return is guaranteed by rate setters. Headlines may cause stock price dips in this industry. Could be some buying opportunities ahead? Considering NWN because by adding water it is actually expanding, plus replacing natural gas won't happen soon.

This is not a heavily traded stock, but 3% swings almost every day for a utility company isn't right. Seems the market makers are in control.

I never did understand how the state regulators could guarantee a rate of return much higher than a T-bond, especially given that their revenue is backed by by being able to turn off one's gas. But maybe the regulators just might cave in to those pressures? That's what was happening 18 years ago, until a senior vice-President gave the governor a call and had him fire the pesky regulator. I guess It pays to have a political machine running your state.

Being a regulated utility, I'll bet the regulators will be regulating all the profit to zero during this Coronavirus emergency.

NWN Tries to be a good steward but they may still have to pay for past indiscretions
Nobody seems to talk about the liability they may have http://bit.ly/2raa8uC
