I like this stock; and for those who base decisions on the BDI (Baltic Dry Index), for you from 12/3/21:

The Baltic Exchange Dry Index rose 1.8% to a one-month high of 3,171 on Friday, extending gains for a seventh straight session, driven by gains across all vessel segments. The capesize index, which tracks iron ore and coal cargos of 150,000-tonnes, increased 1.3% to 4,595, its highest level since October 27th; and the panamax index which tracks cargoes of about 60,000 to 70,000 tonnes of coal and grains, advanced 3.2% to 3,128. Among smaller vessels, the supramax index added 29 points, or 1.2% to 2,431, its highest level in a month. The Baltic Dry Index gained 14.6% this week, its biggest weekly rise since the week ended on August 20th, attributed to factors such as rebounding Australia and Indonesia coal flows, as well as tighter capacity supply. source: Baltic Exchange

Omicron is contageous, but not as severe as Covid19 or Delta; lots of new cases among vaxxed/masked and boostered -so that was a lie (includes my family, so this is not hearsay).

So now only case numbers are important, because there are no deaths to throw up on TV like the Vietnam Daily Body Count.

Supply chain will align, ports will revamp and unclog, and maybe with no Ukrainian tension cheaper oil will give us better margins for part of 2022

Correlated, not causal - 12/7/2021. I'm long, DO YOUR OWN DD

The Baltic Exchange Dry Index rose 3.6% to 3,352 on Tuesday, the highest since November 1st and extending gains for a ninth straight session, driven by gains across all vessel segments. The capesize index, which tracks iron ore and coal cargos of 150,000-tonnes, surged 6% to 4,983, the highest since October 26th mainly due to higher demand in key trade routes of Brazil-China and Australia-China. Also, the panamax index which tracks cargoes of about 60,000 to 70,000 tonnes of coal and grains, went up 1.3% to a more than one-month high of 3,253. Among smaller vessels, the supramax index added 36 points to 2,488, its highest level since November 4th. source: Baltic Exchange

The $3's? Ouch. Another bid drop in BDI again today. I don't understand when the BDI soared to over $5600 recently...wasn't PANL able to lock in some of those higher rates? Selloff on the stock seems way overdone as the company is going to continue to post substantial profits. Yet it's trading like they'll never make money again.

I'm no chart or technical genius; but I like this stock.
Please do your own DD, but as others have pointed out; dividends, seemingly great quarters reported, etc..

When COVID is "over" between the recent Infrastructure bill and next Olympics, IMHO there will be plenty of profitable dry bulk contracts

I agree with others that the price of this stock is way too low and, in some respects, does not make sense.
I do believe that this stock will begin to show up on the screens of value investors which will move the stock up. The current PE of 3.6 is nuts, even for a cyclical industry, and is projected to get lower next quarter with projected earnings of $0.45+ and a prior year comp of $0.17.
You are getting paid over 3% dividend to hang around and there was a hint in the earnings conference call that the dividend could increase.
I is frustrating but be patient.

Could be PANL would benefit, as did HBP by initiating "strategic alternatives". Both companies have reported outstanding Q2 and Q3 results. HBP now stands at 90% of its value while PANL is much less.

The bad news: PANL rapid increase in price beginning in June was driven by the corresponding increase in the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) which tracks the rates for transporting bulk cargo by ship. Investors looking to profit from the increase bought PANL and other carriers hoping to profit from the increase. This index peaked in October and has since lost half its value causing these speculators to head for the exits.
The good news: PANL will report on 11/9 an estimated $0.50 per share earnings replacing a $0.17 comp from last year. The PE ratio will go from 4.9 to 3.6 which should hit the screens of value investors, in my opinion a bit more savvy lot. While the BDI has in fact declined it is currently at a level comparable to the rate during the 2nd quarter when PANL earned $0.43 a record for the company.

Was certainly expecting a bigger pop that this. Good earnings report and a significant amount of new revenue was noted to come online via boat purchases. Disappointed
