All things held equal, when a stock falls the dividend yield rises. In other words, if you own a company with a massive yield that's rising, you're likely losing money on the underlying stock. That's not a successful long-term strategy. It's actually a common way to lose money.

I have a question. Do I have to sign up for the drip dividend thing directly withPSEC? I have been reinvesting the dividends in psec, but don’t seem to be getting a discounted stock price. How do I go about getting it?

Have held PSEC for just over 12 years in an untaxed IRA. At yesterday's closing price, including 12 years of distributions without DRIP, my total ROI is 69.49%, or a compounded annual return of just 4.4%.

With yesterday's close at $8.89, the monthly DRIP dividend will be $8.445, payable next week. Looking forward to the next announcement on March-May dividends, expected in early February.

Friends all. I’ve been chided for paying too much attention to the pre & post market action.

But as of 0600 Eastern; Prospect Capital is off .31 or 3.5%. No news that I’ve seen

    Anyone have any ideas why?

Got this message on Scwab this A.M. "NOTIFICATION OF THE REMOVAL FROM LISTING AND REGISTRATION OF THE STATED SECURITIES

The New York Stock Exchange hereby notifies the SEC of its intention to remove the entire class of the stated securities from listing and registration on the Exchange at the opening of business on January 10, 2022, pursuant to the provisions of Rule 12d2-2 (a).

[ X ] 17 CFR 240.12d2-2(a)(1) That the entire class of this security was called for redemption, maturity or retirement on December 30, 2021; appropriate notice thereof was given; funds sufficient for the payment of all such securities were deposited with an agency authorized to make such payment; and such funds were made available to security holders on December 30, 2021.

The Exchange also notifies the Securities and Exchange Commission that as a result of the above indicated conditions this security was suspended from trading on December 30, 2021."

Sounds like PSEC has paid off an entire class of notes which, IMO, is a very good sign because usually I see companies taking on new notes to pay off the older ones.

PSEC has one of the best dividends especially if you DRIP and get the discount thru the dividend exception list to get an additional 5% off the going price on the ex date.

The sales of preferred shares are very regular.

    $300m 8/2
    $350m 9/27
    $400m 11/15
    $450m 1/4

Another $50m sold about every 6 weeks. (This assumes the news release is relatively contemporaneous with the sale)

Ideas? Beyond I have too much time on my hands.

I still like scooping it up at these lower levels, but I wouldn't mind seeing a retest and convincing break of the $9 level...
