Housing stocks hitting new lows as interest rates rise ?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but the 1Q finanacials show that cash in the checking account is over 50% of the total debt amount? Therefore, if wood stays high over the next several months it looks like PCH will be in a position to:

    1. Pay off debt, thus eliminating interest payments of over 30 mm annually
    2. Invest in plant and land holdings on a cash basis.

This would put PCH in a position to pay a $2 dividend even at historically low lumbar prices. As a dividend hunter who likes REIT as an inflation hedge, this stock is a buy up to $65.

    Good luck all!

Any word on what the size of the one time distribution will be? I am thinking 5 dollars per share?

Interesting merger news. Have been thinking of picking up Catchmark shares. My gut tells me that the Catchmark land will have more value under PCH than CTT, but it seems the pre-market reaction hints that a n all cash acquisition would have been preferable.

13,5% beat on earnings per share estimate (acording Zack, where 1.71$ for 1Q was predicted)

Checking account balance is biggly huge. This will be used for aquisition, capital investment, and of course because they have to comply with REIT distribution rules a one time special dividend which was teased the earnings call.

Not only will we have a one time dividend but the investments and debt reduction should lead to a dividend increase to about 1.80 this year supporting the share price above 50.

Infrastructure package will hopefully be a tailwind for futher debt reduction, capex, and shareholder return. A dividend of over 2.10 seems likely by 2023.

Maybe PCH is not going to the moon, but it is moving to a deluxe apartment in the sky. This is a solid company for retirees and dividend hunters.
    Bullish

Can we expect another large 1 time dividend? It would seem with skyrocketing lumber prices and a break in Canadian supply chain that PCH would be raking it in and have to pay a rather large 1 time dividend

Is this a sleeper? I’ve owned for2 years and can’t complain with the distribution - thoughts good and negative

This company can cover the divvy at a lumbar price of 300, anything extra will go to growth and distribtuion. Expecting inflation I have used this in place of bonds in my portfolio.

    Poor results.......stock getting pummeled.
With lumber prices mostly higher than what they were a year ago...there is really no excuse for management's poor performance. They seem to be window dressing the situation by talking about the full year results. Looking to exit position, as trust in management is no longer there.

Russia plans to ban log exports. Isn't this big news for U.S. tree farms? Surprised stocks not moving? Yahoo does not allow links, but just search for Russia to ban log exports.

Prices of lumber, for the most part, were higher this last quarter (2021)than in 2020. So, I am expecting them to report an EPS higher than $1, but lower than $1.75. We will see,,,,,,,,they report tomorrow.

Great report, but seems like management does not know what to do with the excess liquidity. Shot down idea of buybacks because shares were selling close to NAV...dividend increase was a paltry 2.5% back in December. Seems like analysts were not thrilled with the responses.....and so share price went down.

Big firm news today, $PCH shown its detailed performance in the past year. Unlike cash flows, the reported earnings include “accruals”, which is the forecast of benefits not yet collected. see http://www.financial-education-hub.com/1/PCH. While, there could be forecast errors due to unintentional mistakes or deliberate distortion, causing weak realization of accruals. According to this intuition, for firms reporting the same earnings in 2019, those with high accruals are more likely to deliver poorer future performance.

Pch stock is on my radar. Lumber shortages in US because of corona is clearly going to continue. Mad gains over the last bit.

Whatz moving PCH up today? Any big news ?

So PCH is a USA based lumber company and Trump put a Tariff on Canadian lumber and now on steel.. How is PCH not skyrocketing on news like this? All their non-USA based competition just took a huge hit.. I can only assume they're being lumped into the industry but the eventual numbers will speak for themselves and the dividends will continue to rise.
