Panasonic expects autonomous driving system launch in 2022

Panasonic Corp's autonomous driving system is expected to be launched in commercial vehicles as early as in 2022, in a move that will likely help the Japanese company narrow its gap with rival suppliers in a highly competitive market. Panasonic, the exclusive battery cell supplier for Tesla Inc's mass-market Model 3, has been reinventing itself as a provider of advanced auto parts to escape the price competition of smartphones and other lower-margin consumer products. The new autonomous driving system will enable autonomous driving at low- and medium-speed ranges including self-valet parking, Panasonic said on Tuesday.

Forget Tesla (TLSA) Stock Buy These 3 EV Stock Plays Instead

Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) stock is unattractive at current levels for several reasons. As Barron’s pointed out recently, the valuation of Tesla stock is excessive, even if the company manages to meet the expectations that most analysts have for it. Or, in other words, as I mentioned in an earlier column, “TSLA stock is pricing in mass adoption of the company’s vehicles,” even though there is as yet no concrete sign that such a development will occur.

GoPro Inc (GPRO) Stock: Good for Speculation, But Not Much Else for Now

This is far different from the company’s prospects in 2016, when GPRO stock ultimately ended up losing 50% of its market value. A few days ago, GPRO stock gapped up significantly on the basis of a stronger-than-expected guidance update for the third quarter. Although GoPro previously laid out strong earnings beats, Wall Street questioned its ability to grow in an ultra-competitive sector.

Does Chesapeake Energy Corporation (CHK) Stock Have Any Hope Left?

To buy or not to buy Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE:CHK) — that is the question. Although I can’t speak to every analysis, generally, both sides agree that Chesapeake Energy is seriously challenged. Both sides also agree that the price of crude oil and energy markets will determine who wins and who loses.

Panasonic first quarter profit up 17 percent; expects profit from Tesla's Model 3 batteries by year-end

Japan's Panasonic Corp on Monday reported a 16.9 percent rise in first-quarter operating profit, mostly in line with analyst estimates, as a shift to advanced automotive parts starts to reward the electronics giant. The profit increase comes as Panasonic took control of Spanish automotive mirror manufacturer Ficosa International SA to expand its automotive push, boosting its automotive sales. In the same quarter, in June, Panasonic began battery cell production for Tesla Inc's mass-market Model 3 electric vehicle at their $5 billion "Gigafactory".
