Piper Jaffray Cos (NYSE:PJC) files its latest 10-K with SEC for the fiscal year ended on December 31, 2017.
Piper Jaffray Cos. is expanding it's capabilities. The Minneapolis-based firm announced recently it has created a subsidiary that will provide committed debt facilities for middle-market clients. The new entity, Piper Jaffray Finance, is backed with $1 billion of equity and capital commitments from a group of investors that inlcudes its parent company.

Investment bank and asset management firm Piper Jaffray Co on Tuesday named Chad Abraham chief executive and Deb Schoneman president, effective Jan. 1. Abraham is currently the firm's global co-head of investment banking and capital markets and Schoneman is the chief financial officer and global head of equities. Andrew Duff will remain chairman of Piper Jaffray's board and retire as CEO, a position he has held since 2000.

Canada's benchmark stock index notched a seven-month high on Thursday, fueled by a rally in energy and mining stocks as commodity prices rose, but gains were tempered by a drop in the shares of Shopify Inc for a second straight day. The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index ended up 55.30 points, or 0.35 percent, at 15,776.30, its highest close since Feb. 23. "I wouldn't be surprised if the TSX breaks the 16,000 mark, which has been pretty elusive, some time in the fourth quarter," said Elvis Picardo, portfolio manager at HollisWealth Inc.
