Search engine woes continue to dog CafePress, but relief could come soon

CafePress Inc. reported a significant drop in second-quarter revenue but narrowed its loss from the same quarter a year ago, as issues related to search engine algorithm changes continue to cause problems for the internet retailer. The company reported a net loss for the first quarter of $1.4 million, or 8 cents per diluted share, compared with a loss of $3.2 million, or 19 cents a share, a year earlier. CafePress' revenue fell to $14.4 million, or 19 percent, from $17.9 million a year ago.

3 of the Best Penny Stocks To Buy Right Now

Penny stocks get a bad rap — and it’s somewhat well-deserved. The best penny stocks to buy shouldn’t be buys because of their price — but rather their value. All that said, a bad reputation can create opportunities in the micro-cap and small-cap spaces — and some of those opportunities have share prices under $5, traditionally the cut-off for penny stocks.

CafePress announces another round of layoffs

CafePress announced a 7 percent reduction in its staff Friday — including two executives — the second round of layoffs in as many months. According to past Louisville Business First reports, a 7 percent workforce cut at CafePress would equal between 15 and 20 employees. Louisville-based CafePress (PRSS), which sells quirky T-shirts and gifts, has been working for more than a year to come out from underneath changes in a Google search algorithm and issues caused by an outdated website.

This Louisville CEO just slashed his own salary — here's why

Weeks after announcing layoffs, CafePress Inc. CEO and co-founder Fred Durham decided to take things a step further and slash his own salary to help cut costs at his ailing company. On Jan. 9, Business First reported that the Louisville-based online retailer laid off 12 employees in the Louisville area. Now CafePress (PRSS) announced in a news release that the Louisville CEO will give up $175,000 of his $300,000 annual base salary.
