SABR is being hugely oversold by its 99% automated institutional investors (T.Rowe, etc...) whose algorithms are comparing Q1, 2021 performance to Q1,2020. In comparison Airline stocks are currently trading at pre-pandemic prices with only half the performance but they have more human non-institutional investors.
Most human investors would consider the gain to risk ratio on SABR to be quite high (ignoring black swan events).
    For example:
1/ has the bookings paradigm changed? No
2/ will people stop traveling? No, look at the elevated leisure travel
3/ is covid dominating the world? for the most part No, vaccination programs are working, a few countries have political/vaccination issues (India, Brazil).
4/ will business travel return? Yes, it's more about when. America, Europe are opening up.
5/ will SABR go bankrupt before profitability? No, they have 1.3B cash with a Q1 burn-rate of 200M.
6/ Has SABR lost market share? No, the shift to Google cloud promises to add a competitive advantage with a cost reduction.
7/ How high will SABR stock go? SABR 5-year average share price pre-pandemic was $23 (pre-Google collaboration).

For the human investors, this drop in share price is an opportunity gift from the AI bots who in 3 months will compare Q2,2021 to Q2,2020 performance and will then instruct their institutions to buy SABR back.

Almost a 20% short position. When travel picks up in the next quarter, SABR is moving much higher on a potential short squeeze.

SABR is now priced less than it was 2 month ago and hovering at $3 below it's pre-pandemic 5 year low. SABR remains oversold.

    Over that time period:
1/ daily covid cases have halved, daily covid deaths have gone from 3000 to 600
2/ the number of vaccinated people has increased 7-fold, now at 43% of population.
3/ vaccinated people have liberties (can travel and be mask-less outside)
4/ a huge stimulus bill was passed with most $1400 checks delivered
5/ jobs have increased and unemployment has dropped
6/ more people are flying according to TSA numbers
7/ All the airlines are now trading at pre-pandemic prices
8/ lots of states have removed many covid restrictions, New York will open up July 1st
9/ Europe is opening up to vaccinated US tourists in summer

Americans have money, they are getting vaccinated, and will travel. Covid deaths are low and daily cases are dropping, as a result more states are opening up. Europe is 1-2 months behind.

I find it hard to imagine that these institutional investors that own SABR are thinking that bookings will not be improving in the coming days and are willing to sell their SABR shares at this price.

now why would they be doing this??? ;)

American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) has made a binding offer to acquire Egencia, Expedia Group’s corporate travel arm. As part of the transaction, Expedia Group would become a shareholder in, and enter a long-term strategic commercial agreement with, GBT.

TRVG earnings just came out, letter to shareholders states: “Qualified Referrals in the US improved from approximately 30% of 2019 levels in January 2021 to approximately 70% in April 2021. In Israel, which has the highest rate of cumulative 1st dose vaccines administered of any country globally to date, our Qualified Referrals increased in April compared to the same period in 2019“

Hey, I have an idea - everybody’s getting vaccinated, lots of people want to take vacations, govt is spending all of this money which will result in RFPs and sales calls that companies will want to jump on planes for, my best trading idea is let’s short Sabre and the airlines!

Daily new cases in U.S. yesterday were below 30K, risk dropping off very quickly! Herd immunity is close.
