Sika has acquired Modern Waterproofing Group, a leading manufacturer of roofing and waterproofing systems in Egypt. The acquisition supplements and rounds off the product portfolio of Sika Egypt and offers new opportunities for growth in the Egyptian construction market.
Sika has commenced production of respiratory masks in France. In addition to hand sanitizer, which is being manufactured at over 15 Sika national subsidiaries since March 2020, safety masks are now being produced for employees, customers, and other interested parties. At the Les Salles du Gardon factory in southern France, Sika has commenced the production of respiratory masks made almost entirely from Sika products.

Sika has invested in the production of concrete admixtures, acrylic liquid applied membranes, and mortars in Barranquilla, the fourth-largest city in Colombia, and has relocated and expanded the activities of an existing factory to the new state-of-the-art plant. The factory supplies the attractive Caribbean market and the northern part of Colombia and enables further growth. Barranquilla is situated between the two rapidly growing tourist destinations of Cartagena and Santa Marta on the Atlantic coast.

Sika has commenced operations at its third plant in Indonesia in a step which saw it align local production capacities with the strong demand for building materials. Two existing Sika plants were already supplying concrete admixtures and mortar products to the Indonesian construction market. With the new plant, Sika is expanding production capacity in the Jakarta metropolitan area and ensuring it can satisfy the growing demand for construction materials in western Indonesia.
Sika has agreed to acquire Adeplast SA, a major manufacturer of mortars and thermal insulation solutions in Rumania. The acquisition will significantly strengthen Sika’s position in the local construction chemicals market and extend its manufacturing footprint.
Sika has won the Swiss Technology Award 2019 in the "Innovation Leaders" category. It received the award for its new, high-performance adhesive technology used in lightweight construction in the field of transportation. The prize was awarded on November 21, at the Swiss Innovation Forum in Basel in the presence of 1,000 decision-makers in business, politics, science and the media.

Sika has agreed to acquire Crevo-Hengxin, a Chinese manufacturer of silicone sealants and adhesives used in both industry and construction applications. With this takeover, Sika is expanding its Target Markets Industry and Sealing & Bonding presence in China and the Asia Pacific region, and is gaining additional silicone technology plus a production footprint. Crevo-Hengxin is a family-owned manufacturer of a broad range of silicone products used for facades, fenestration, insulated glass, interior finishing and other sealing and bonding applications.
Sika is further expanding its presence in West Africa and starting operations in a new facility for mortars in Cameroon. In total, Sika has 22 factories on the high-growth African continent. Sika will use its new mortar products factory, located in the major city of Douala, to expand its product portfolio and supply customers in Cameroon’s construction market with locally manufactured products.
