Analyst Report: Silk Road Medical IncBased in Sunnyvale, California, Silk Road Medical is a medical device company focused on reducing the risk of stroke and its devastating impact. The company has pioneered a new approach for the treatment of carotid artery disease called Transcarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR). TCAR combines the surgical principles of neuroprotection with minimally invasive endovascular techniques to treat carotid artery blockages that may cause strokes. The TCAR procedure involves threading a balloon catheter into the carotid artery from an incision near the groin to expand the narrowed artery. In parallel with the catheter procedure, another device is deployed to temporarily reverse blood flow to the brain in order to prevent any broken off clots from moving to the brain.
