Back in SQM folks! Got back in early this morning (unluckily, considering the bargain closing price). But I couldn't resist with lithium carbonate making yet another high overnight in Shanghai (367,500 yuan (58,000 usd) / metric tonne). Also, it looked like lithium stocks were ready start their inevitable rebound after their recent swoon, but then they got caught up in the late afternoon interest rate-related smackdown. SQM in particular traded down way too much at the end of day in New York trading and if you can pick up shares tomorrow morning anywhere near the NYSE closing price, you are getting a very nice bargain.

With regards to newly elected Boric in Chile, the deep fears over the past month about what he will do to the mining industry were largely overblown, at least to a significant degree. His recent choices for cabinet members as well as his finance and (critically) mining minister have alleviated some of this built up fear. Things often are not nearly as bad as media fear mongers like to make them seem.

With its steady production, large revenues and impressively growing earnings, SQM is still the relative value play in the lithium stock space (if there is such a thing in this high growth sector in which most companies, unlike SQM, are still deeply in their exploration and development phases and so can't yet partake in the soaring lithium price, let alone make a profit). SQM, on the other hand, does both for the investor: it is hugely reaping the rewards of the soaring lithium price AND it is developing new assets for a very rich future ahead.

It's definitely good news. Just wondering whether Koch's endgame is to buy out SLI, once the first commercial plant is up and running. They certainly have the backbone to do so. Not a bad thing, evidently, as long as they don't do it too quickly so that the sp can rise much more, and then apply a buy-out premium on top.

Wow, what after-hours action last night with Microsoft announcing earnings. Although they beat analyst expectations, the stock dropped 5%! It dragged the entire Dow and Nasdaq futures down with it. Two hours later, MSFT went up green +5%! The company conference call saved the night. And the whole market futures followed suit. Shows how desperate investors are with the current uncertainty, using MSFT as a gauge for the entire tech future growth.

On another note, Ford is manufacturing two lithium battery plants, not very far from Arkansas. One in Kansas, I think and another is in Tennessee. I do think its tied to strategically position themselves in the midwest to take advantage of Lithium supplies from Arkansas and some other lithium company in north carolina.

Incredible! Everytime Powell talks, the market drops. Nothing of substance said, no firm decision, the Fed keeps maintaining the uncertainty. That's not good, let's hope the market shakes off the wishy-washy feeling.

The first part of the process Standard Lithium is using is called Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE), and this is a “first-of-its-kind” DLE demo project was completed in September. The recent news is that the company has gone through the resulting phases.
“We’ve managed to demonstrate the first of its kind continuous extraction of lithium from Smackover brine and we’ve converted it into better than battery quality material,” Dr. Andy Robinson, President and COO of Standard Lithium, commented. “Not only that, but we’ve done it at a large scale, which now allows us to keep on working towards commercialization. This proof of concept validates our approach over the past four years, and is testament to the hard work and ingenuity of our deep and diverse technical team.”

Unbelievable day! Starting to think today's action is just a concerted shorting effort from MM's to force highly leveraged retail investors to sell....

Hello Everyone. I want to make this comment thread for everyone to list off why they're bullish, bearish, or neutral for SLI, but give actual substance to why your bullish or bearish. I think this will serve a pretty good pros and cons list that sometimes we negate the importance of due to our bias.

I'll start off; I'm bullish on SLI because it's a company that has many strategic partners and is planning on extracting a resource I believe will have a large demand. With governments incentivizing electric vehicles, I believe demand will only make the price of lithium skyrocket, especially as governments get involved. One more point, though these all aren't as ranking of importance, but I believe a domestic source of lithium is crucial for our foreign policy, as it protects from damage from tariffs or other countries not giving the US lithium.

Rode 150K shares from $3 to $10.50 last year.... will do it again this year! LOL what a casino this entire rigged market is. This time the shares I purchase for $3 in April-May will be long term holds though as this is only getting above $10 again on JV/1st plant FID news. But it will go past $10 and never look back at that point as it won't be a "story" stock anymore. Until JV/FID news, we get slaughtered. But the future will be really bright at some point.

Everyone is talking about when commercial scale production will start or when JV with Lanxess will be announced.

Yet, no one is talking about when they will get into supply contract with one of the major manufacturers like Tesla or Ford or GM. Thats the biggest catalyst in my opinion. Close it moves to commercial scale production, increase in chances of SLI announcing supply chain contract with a major auto manufacturer.

    Falling knives all over!
This is not just a singularity with this stock, as some are claiming that these are levels they forecasted to would reach!
Did they forecast the whole market to drop like this?
The whole market is in reverse!
This baby is getting thrown out with the bathwater, just as many others are too!
SLI will rise from the correction stronger than most!
