The Company and its insurers have reached an agreement to settle two class actions, brought in Quebec and Ontario on behalf of security holders, relating to alleged disclosure misrepresentation during 2009-2011. The Company will contribute $88M to the settlement of both class actions. MONTREAL , May 22, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - SNC-Lavalin (SNC.TO) announces that it has, subject to required court approvals, reached a settlement agreement in relation to class actions in Quebec and Ontario filed in 2012 on behalf of security holders (collectively, the "Actions").
OTTAWA—Canadian authorities said Thursday they have filed five charges against a former SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. executive in relation to a multiyear probe related to illegal political contributions tied to the global engineering company. Under Canada’s elections laws, corporations are prohibited from making donations to political parties. The charges were filed at the Court of Quebec in Montreal, according to a statement issued by Canada’s Commissioner of Elections, and relate to an investigation involving SNC-Lavalin officials and their political fundraising activities between 2004 and 2011.
Venezuela's state-run oil firm PDVSA is being sued for more than $25 million in a U.S. court over non-payment of notes issued for work performed by Canadian energy contractor SNC-Lavalin, according a court filing. The suit, filed in a district court in Manhattan, is the latest in a recent series of court actions seeking to press the cash-strapped oil firm for payment, with actions in recent days by ConocoPhillips and Rusoro.
